    US consumer confidence tanks
    [IMG]
US consumer confidence fell in April to its lowest level since May 2020, new data showed, as companies warned of tariff-induced price hikes. A third of consumers also expect hiring and business conditions to worsen, reflecting the gloomy outlook among Americans: Polls show faltering trust in US President Donald Trump’s ability to handle the economy, while recession fears are rising. Major US retailers recently warned Trump that higher prices will be unavoidable. Adidas said Tuesday that tariffs would lead to price hikes on all its US products, while Chinese e-commerce platform Temu began listing “import charges”; Amazon denied it was considering showing tariff costs on products after the White House called such a move “hostile and political.”

It's true that importers will not want to lose your markets.
If the US can produce products or the raw materials for products cheaper than the importers, why are those products being imported.
Throwing a tarrif on those products increases the cost to someone. Either the producer has to lower his price which may or may not cause him to go out of business. Or the importer will have to absorb the tarrif which may or may not cause them to go out of business.
Or the more likely result is the american consumer will pick up the tab. At any rate have you seen any drops in price in the last 100 days?
Well of course you can point to the drop in the price of stocks, not everything is going up in price. :)

You are ignorant. Canada has basically balanced trade with the US. Remove heavy Oil and we run a trade deficit. You need our trade more then you understand. Meanwhile as you post crap on here there is a growing group of US based companies making massive layoffs of staff. Trump hasn't built any new factories yet ( yes, I know it's only been months but it's his plan not mine ), and now the news is there are 500K in factory jobs in the US that they can't fill even before tariffs.

It's amazing really that some of you dumb asses can just ignore all the very real events around you and spout all this complete nonsense online.

    Another Doooooooooohnald point.

He claims to have made 200 deals so far, (Time Magazine interview):-

When are they going to be announced?

You have to understand, I'm dealing with all the companies, very friendly countries. We're meeting with China. We're doing fine with everybody. But ultimately, I've made all the deals.

Not one has been announced yet. When are you going to announce them?

    I’ve made 200 deals.

    You’ve made 200 deals?

    100%.

    + + +

But just one small problem with that .......... there are only 195 countries in the world.
