So Americans get to relive some of the post-Covid supply issues but this time it was brought to you not by a disease but by Trump. And some will lose their current jobs permanently.
Actually it is China not us who is in a predicament. There will be an agreement. It is just postering to get negotiations going and on the table. It is not the end of the world. We will come out with a much better deal than we previously had and presently have (before the tariffs) with China.
Good Luck with your assertion. Still waiting for Trump to cut his first "trade deal". Most likely it will be with a nations in Asia which are most severally impacted by the very high proposed tariffs -- these are Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and some other nations in the region --- but NOT China. Only 14.8% of China's exports (2023 figure) go to the U.S. and China is the primary exporter to most of the countries on the face of the earth. Losing 14.8% of your exports will hurt in the short-term but China has plenty of alternate export markets to divert products to in the long term. China can afford to simply not pick-up the phone and ignore Trump's pleading for a "deal". I expect that when Trump proudly announces his first trade deal -- it will quickly be noticed that the U.S. gained nothing and the other country improved their position compared to 2024. Effectively the Trump administration will give the house away to the first nations to "close a deal" -- not recognizing that it will quickly set the negotiation standard for all the other nations. In other words -- the other nations will follow the example of the "first deals" and arrive at similar deals in which the U.S. gains nothing in terms of fixing the trade situation. Somehow Trump will try to frame this as a victory despite the U.S. gaining nothing.
Trump seems to be a terrible negotiator based on evidence so far. Is there a singal example of him gaining anything though a win-win negotiation, which is what a successful negotiator attempts to achieve. All examples so far, that I am aware of involve attempts to extort. That's a gangster tactic. It won't work in international negotiation. We have seen Trump's attempt to end the Ukraine war "in a day" fall flat on its face. Ukraine diplomatically rejected Trump's attempt at extortion: give Russia all the land they have illegally annexed or we will end our military support. When analyzed, this is an offer of extortion that only an imbecile would except, especially since Ukraine appears to have the upper hand in the war. At least that's a conclusion I've come to based on Russian troops using donkey's and motorcycles to get to the front lines whereas the Ukrainian troops are using trucks, armored personnel carriers, Tanks etc.
In 2022 the news was that Putin was dying and Russia was using dishwasher's computer chips. Since then news Russia took 1/5 of Ukraine. They might be using donkeys and home appliance tech but they are still kicking the west ass in this proxy war. I can't imagine an end to this war where Ukraine takes back Crimea or Donbass.
That looks like all the US Rite Aid stores about a year ago. https://www.seattletimes.com/busine...-remain-bare-experts-explain-why-that-may-be/
Well then, they don't need US help $$$ wise or technology wise. Nor do they need Europe's help. Let em fight Russia on their own dime. They reject Trumps plan then let em figure it out on their own. It is their people dying. Seems like to me they are the ones not being too smart.
