Trump faces a much tougher road to reelection than most seem to think.

No president has won re election with an approval rating less than 50%
No president has won re election with a disapproval rating higher than approval rating

    But yeah,they're useless

Funny we were watching the 2nd to last season of Mad Men last week and Nixon getting elected had a number characters feeling happy. The show is famously historically accurate.

The King riots before (April) had everbody on edge. Nixon was to bring peace through a firm hand.

Trump.. Has already made a complete mess, he has no tricks left.

  5. ''The world is laughing at how stupid our leaders are.'' . . . . . Donald J Trump

‘I know a dying administration when I see one’: British journalist says brutal crackdown will seal Trump’s doom

British journalist Ed Luce called out Senate Republicans for covering a dying Trump administration that’s threatening U.S. democracy as it gasps for survival.

The Financial Times‘ chief U.S. commentator told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that President Donald Trump is trying to crack down on dissent and rally his hardcore base as the coronavirus and now nationwide protests against police brutality threaten his re-election chances.

“There are other Republican senators who are keeping silent because they know that what Trump is doing, what Trump is suggesting, is wrong,” Luce said. They’re scared of a backlash if they speak out.”

Luce, who warned of the Trump administration’s fascist creep in a new column, called on GOP senators to follow the example set by former Defense secretary James Mattis, former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff Mike Mullen and current Defense secretary Mike Esper and speak out against the president’s abuses.

“They need to speak out — it is his party,” Luce said. “Ultimately, they are enabling him. You know, I don’t think the threat of this situation can be overstated. Trump has his back to the wall. He will do lots of things to try and prevent his defeat.”

    Cap can be delusional sometimes

Nixons approval was around 60% most of 1972 and was over 55% most of his first term

Never fear, he will run away and know nothing another day, or later today.

  8. Now watch Trump lash out at the senator on Twitter.

GOP’s Murkowski praises Mattis’s ‘honest and overdue’ Trump criticism — and suggests she won’t back his 2020 campign

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) on Thursday praised former Defense Secretary James Mattis for speaking out against President Donald Trump, and then suggested she may not back his 2020 reelection campaign.

As reported by Politico’s Andrew Desiderio, Murkowski described Mattis’s statement denouncing the president as “true, honest, necessary and overdue.”

“Perhaps we’re getting to the point where we can be more honest with the concerns that we might hold internally, and have the courage of our own convictions to speak up,” Murkowski added.

  9. That was 68, and yes, Nixon was to bring peace. Laughable, but that was the storyline back then. I'm referencing the 72 election after 4 years of failing on everything except the economy, which was very good. Sound familiar? Had the economy been wrecked, intentionally or otherwise he wouldn't have been elected again, not with all the other stuff going on.
