ET trolls coming out of the woodwork like termites have an understanding of economics below kindergarten level. Those 6 year old kids nowadays will easily smoke these idiots in intelligence alone. Stop your mass posting of lies and disinformation. You are only showing us how dumb you all are!

There are many countries where the U.S. does not have a trade deficit. Someone previously listed all of them out. They include many large countries which are trading partners including Brazil, U.K., Australia and others.

    Yeah and what's their numbers?

    As of 2024,

Brazil: Trade surplus is $7.4 billion

U.K: Trade surplus is 11.9 billion

Australia: Trade surplus is 17.9 billion

Wow!! For a grand total of *drumroll* $37.2 billion!! Only 12% of the deficit that USA has with China! Another way to put it, for every $1 of trade surplus that USA has with these countries, China extracts close to 10 times more from the USA. Or USA would have to trade with TEN of Brazil and UK and Australia combined in order to make up the shortfall that it has with China. Ain't math awesome?? This is how much USA is supporting China only for it to spend them on geopolitical projects to come back and take USA out. What's that phrase? Don't bite the hand that feeds you? Obviously it doesn't apply for China. LOL

This is not just a trade war. This is a war just like any other for the USA to fight for sovereignty.

Why don’t you add the numbers from the rest of the lengthy list of countries we have a trade surplus with.

And then explain to us why Trump is imposing additional tariffs on countries we have a trade surplus with. By Trump’s formula they should imposing additional tariffs on the U.S.

You mean the $2 billion surplus from Singapore? Or the $443.3 million from Saudi Arabia? LOL The trade surpluses listed in my post were the largest ones that USA has.

Because they are not enough to still compensate for all the trade deficit that USA has with all the other countries!! These countries, instead of imposing tariffs on USA, why don't they turn around and impose tariffs on the biggest violator of WTO agreements, China? Do they have the guts? USA is standing up to China. LOL

  6. Americans want cheap products...period. We are a consumer economy....period.

Apple created the iphone and went overseas to make it cheaper for more Americans to buy.

Dell made the computer and moved production overseas to make it cheaper for more Americans to buy.

The deficit is not negative if your goal is to have access to cheaper products. There is a reason why large sectors of the middle and lower class have cell phones and tablets and computers, because they are made overseas.

WHining about soverignty and shit needs to be made here is as bullshit as theoretical economics. Making trade fairer so your goods can be sold over there is a realistic goal. Whining about job losses and manufacturing moving overseas when unions and US labor demand 3x what real labor overseas makes (not prison labor) is hiding your head in the sand.

Americans will buy Japanese cars because they are cheaper and BETTER made (sorry but it is true). It is not about soverignty, security or jobs.... US has a huge surplus in services because that is our specialty but the rest of the world has caught up. Why does GM have to make its shitty cars in the U.S. when they are more affordable in Canada. Instead of punishing Canada, give GM free subsidies like they do in China and Russia to operate cheaper (oh right we hate communism). GM has been bailed out so many times for almost failing and we whine they make cars in Canada.

We cannot make shit cheaper here than they can in Mexico and Dominican Republic and Vietnam.... period. So dont fucking whine about inflation and then put tariffs on imports and then say they need to be made here at a higher price.

Economics is a bullshit subject based on theory, not real numbers.

Yeah... why don't you redo your list and educate yourself.

Let's start with the following trade surpluses to be added:
    • Netherlands: $50.5 Billion
    • Hong Kong: $20.2 Billion
    • United Arab Emirates: $17.8 Billion
All of these are larger than those you have listed.

The reality is that the only country that the U.S and every other western nation has a significant trade deficit with is China. The U.S. should limit it's targeting to China if they are concerned about trade deficits. Mexico has a large trade deficit with the U.S. but most of it was created by U.S. companies re-locating to Mexico -- driven by the policies and North American trade agreements of the previous Trump administration and other U.S. presidential administrations.

Yup!!! EXACTLY what I thought US should do, zero in on China and China alone. China alone is the violator of the WTO agreements and have close to a quarter of the entire trade deficit of USA. So why punish other countries especially when other countries are co-operating and negotiating? China alone chooses to "fight" to satisfy its ego so let it fight.

Good job Trump!! Great move!! And looks like everybody agrees with Trump.
