Isn't Texas supposed to be THE shining MAGA example of the American economy now that we are not supposed to look at market indices as a barometer? Texas manufacturing activity falters amid increased uncertainty https://www.dallasfed.org/research/surveys/tmos/2025/2502
Catching up on recent backlog of email newsletters and ..... so we know what MAGAnut volpi thinks of Canadian tariffs on U.S. Whiskey. Let's see what the CEO of Jack Daniels thinks about it:- (MORNINGBREW) FOOD & BEV Jack Daniels got caught in the trade war NurPhoto/Getty Images A Jack and Coke in Canada is now just “a Coke.” In response to new tariffs on Canadian imports, state-affiliated liquor stores across Canada pulled US-produced liquor off their shelves this week. Canadian officials in Ontario, British Columbia, and other provinces urged liquor stores to cease imports of US spirits and push shoppers toward Canadian-made alternatives, even though a “Caribou Crossing and Coke” doesn’t roll off the tongue. The move drew ire from Lawson Whiting, CEO of Jack Daniel’s parent company Brown-Forman. In an earnings call on Wednesday, he said that Canada pulling US alcohol off the shelves is “worse than a tariff.” He called the move a “disproportionate” reaction and said, “It’s literally taking your sales away.” Whiting also noted that Canada only accounts for 1% of the company’s sales, so it can “withstand” the boycott. Bad vibes for the Bourbon Belt. Kentucky exported $76 million of whiskey and other spirits to Canada in 2023, according to Canada’s Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food. “We’re the largest purchaser of bourbon in the world for Kentucky bourbon manufacturers,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford said this week. “They’re done. They’re gone.”—CC
Those on the left do not know the meaning of leverage. The US has leverage over Canada since, most of the exports from Canada go to the US. What happens when your product becomes more expensive due to tariffs? There is less demand for it, Canadian exports will go down, Canadian companies will suffer losses then, layoff their employees. Also, some other countries selling the same products to the US will end up getting your market share. Most exports nowadays are available from multiple countries. The only variance is the price of the item from the different countries.
Mate, after all these years trading (you and I and a bunch of others) there's nothing more to talk about re trading. Every trading topic under the sun has been thrashed to death. The last time I picked up any trading ideas on et is beyond my memory. Et is just a place to hang out and talk nonsense to fill in some time.
CC&C rolls off the tongue just fine Fitting that the person whom can (arguably) be pointed to as the facilitator of the breakdown in bi-partisanship, increased political polarization and giver of “get out of impeachment free card” has his home state caught in the tariff cross-fire. May he live long to reap what he has sown. We’re not cheering chief, we just don’t drink the ‘kool-aid’
But I have a problem when it comes to native Americans. While some look distinctly Indian, some look more white than their red ancestors. Not only do they look white, they even sound and act white. Man, get a grip on yourself. Plus, you ain't the only one living in the States. I, along with many many many decent folks, don't share your extreme views. First and foremost, just exactly WTF did Canadians do to hear all these crap from you? Second, how the fuck do you think we can sustain our economy if we cut off all ties with the rest of the world? You really think those consumers from the boondock states, where the majority of Trump's supporters live, can sustain this nation? This country ain't an island. You got it totally backwards, bro. You need to do some reading in basic economics. Seriously.
