I don't think Trump is a breath of fresh air, as I noted earlier. I don't think he's a good influence on the political scene. He is a fool. A rich, self-absorbed fool who is overshadowing any reasonable conservative (whoever that might be). His "candor" is nothing but a moronic stream of consciousness soliloquy lowering the brow and the bar. We watch him because it is hard not to watch the absurdly extreme. The problem is that, in order for the other Republican contenders to get any attention, they will have to see his extreme and raise it. And it seems to have already happened in the case of Huckabee. Although we are being entertained, that is not supposed to be the intent of the political process. Choosing a leader is a serious business because the stakes are high. Trump, however watchable he may be as we wait to see what stupid thing he will say or do next, is bad for the process. He diminishes it.
I think he is great because even though what he says is mostly offensive and utter horse shit, but at least there's no hidden dog whistles or deceptive doubletalk. To add, Ron Paul was extremely honest during his campaign or otherwise, how many votes did he get for his honesty in the GOP primary? Zilch. The only reason Trump is polling so well among the primary voters is because his views reflect the xenophobic base's ideals, they can care less if Trump was pro amnesty in the past as long as he is calling those filthy Mexicans rapists.
Exactly why I, for one, am sick and tired of being lied to by politicians. I don't believe anything any of them say unless it's proven in their prior record, and even that is not a guarantee. That lobby money is a powerful drug.
You don't want Donald Trump talking about rape, but you have no issue with Bill Clinton committing rape. Its nice to hear you have standards.
Donald Trump’s lawyer apologizes for comment on spousal rape Michael Cohen calls it ‘inarticulate comment’ in moment of anger One of presidential candidate Donald Trump‘s chief advisers apologized for a statement he made about spousal rape, comments Democrats alleged highlighted Republicans’ insensitivity to the issue of sexual assault. In an article published in the Daily Beast Monday night, Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, told the news outlet that “you cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.” He made the remarks in response to since-retracted allegations aired in Trump’s divorce from Ivana Trump in the early 1990s. In a statement released Tuesday morning, Cohen apologized for his comment about spousal rape, which has been illegal in New York state for decades. “I want to clarify a statement I made to the Daily Beast. As an attorney, husband and father there are many injustices that offend me but nothing more than charges of rape or racism. They hit me at my core. Rarely am I surprised by the press, but the gall of this particular reporter to make such a reprehensible and false allegation against Mr. Trump truly stunned me. In my moment of shock and anger, I made an inarticulate comment — which I do not believe — and which I apologize for entirely.” http://www.marketwatch.com/story/do...ogizes-for-comment-on-spousal-rape-2015-07-28
Someone who cares for neither site, doesn't read them and made a clerical error? Not all of us are media whores like yourself, Wags.
Standards? A gay liberal living in San Francisco trolling the internet for the latest political talking points doesn't have standards. He has an agenda.
It's hard to argue with you on that point. But nothing Trump has to say is worth anything. Trump is all about Trump. And nothing else.
