Totally reckless. You’re only using half your brain. Just because an agent is healthy doesn’t mean his coworkers and family members are healthy. Stopping the spread of Covid includes primary and secondary transmission. The White House right now is showing you three levels of transmission, and there will probably be a fourth.
One additional problem now after Trump's recklessness with taking no COVID precautions during his travel is that so many Secret Service detail members are positive for COVID that they have difficultly in fielding a detail to protect the President.
These people will say anything to win. Trump campaign attacks Joe Biden for lack of ‘firsthand experience’ being infected with COVID-19 Trump campaign aide Erin Perrine on Monday suggested that President Donald Trump is a better leader than Democratic candidate Joe Biden because he has the “firsthand experience” of being infected with COVID-19. While speaking to Fox News host Sandra Smith, Perrine pointed to Trump’s joyride around Walter Reed Medical Center to wave at supporters as evidence of him continuing with a presidential schedule, which she said was “more rigorous” than Joe Biden’s daily activities. Smith wondered if the global pandemic will take the forefront in Trump’s campaign now that the president has personally been infected with the disease. “Firsthand experience is always going to change how someone relates to something that’s been happening,” Perrine opined. “The president has coronavirus right now, he is battling it head on, as toughly, as only President Trump can. And of course that’s going to change the way that he speaks of it because it will be a firsthand experience.” Smith interrupted to observe that the president’s campaign has not focused on COVID-19 in the past. “It’s been law and order and it’s been the economy,” Smith said. “Does this become a key issue in the campaign?” “He’s talked about it all,” Perrine replied. “And listen, he has experience as commander-in-chief, he has experience as a businessman, he has experience — now — fighting the coronavirus as an individual. Those firsthand experiences, Joe Biden, he doesn’t have those.” “Those firsthand experiences are what are going to get President Trump four more years,” she added. “So of course he talks about it differently now that he has lived through it.”
If an agent had family members who were compromised, then that agent should request immediate reassignment. The agency allows for this. Any agent knows they will be around multiple people on a daily basis - people who will not necessarily be screened for COVID. This is just part of the job. Rallies, crowd control, political folks coming to the White House, etc. To suggest a car ride suddenly places these agents in a higher risk category is ridiculous.
The Secret Service has over 3200 agents last I checked. There isn't going to be a problem replacing the group detail around the President.
I think that when Secret Service agents, who know they will be exposed to risk when they sign up, complain about unnecessary, superfluous risk, then you should stand up and take notice. Unless, maybe you think they're not up for the job. Here, this piece is not behind a pay wall: https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow...-trump-he-s-not-even-pretending-care-n1242109
There are a limited number of secret service agents on the President's protection detail. Are they going to pull agents in from Omaha City who have spent the past twenty years investigating fake money to protect the President?
Inadvertently putting their own family at risk is just part of the job? So Trump can have his photo op and otherwise disregard CDC guidelines? WTF, Tsing?
You can't possibly be this dense. You don't think there are 3rd string, even 4th string redundancies to protect the First Family and POTUS?
