If Quad collapses, the immediate risk is for Japan. They have disputes over large islands with China in the southern side and Russia in the northern side. They are more dependent on US security guarantee than the other two Quad members.

Interesting bit.. Canada imports all of its bauxite from Brazil, then processes it into aluminum before selling it to the US. Perhaps Trump believes the US can bypass Canada and process all of its bauxite needs on US soil? For that to happen the EPA has to losen restrictions on the processing pollution which, among others, includes radioactivity.

https://www.epa.gov/radiation/tenor...rating bauxite, which are located in Louisiana.

Watching the EPAs changes to environmental protection rules may give an indication to Trump's plan regarding AI processing in the US.

The only 2 processing plants in the US are in Louisiana, one owned by Concord Resources headquartered in London and I wasn't able to find the name of the other one. In the mining world the plants are considered small.

While tariffs will impact the price and sales of AI and affect the countries in which bauxite is mined and where processing is done, the companies that own the supply chain should take the biggest hit, Rio Tinto, Alcoa and Norsk Hydro, while China's Chalco and Russia's RUSAL are spared. However the share price of the 3 big players don't seem affected by Trump's decisions. Perhaps AI producers can easily find buyers elsewhere?

In the end, it's hard to tell what's behind Trump's AI tariffs on supplying nations.

read the story on walmart beating on its china suppliers, they said no or walmart back off. unless walmart wants to on the unreliable entity list, and china shut down sam’s club there.

btw, walmart counts for nearly 4% of china imports.
