I don't disagree with this, but I can't help but feel like there is something different now. It's a case of George Costanza in Seinfeld doing the opposite of every one of his natural instincts. The idea that income tax can be eliminated is the complete opposite of governments always needing more and more of your tax dollars. Attempting to bring production back home, and also cutting all the military spending to protect other countries is also a very interesting move, and the opposite of what we might expect. I'm not saying that I think he is doing even a few things right, but because the debt bomb is literally just around the corner, drastically cutting spending to bare bones might not actually seem like a bad idea. I consider it more of a controlled demolition rather than just waiting for everything to collapse. Trying to figure out where all the waste is, is just too slow, so just close entire departments. Does the federal government even need a department of education? All of this is likely better handled at the state level. If the cost to be the world superpower meant that the US had to take on this crippling debt burden, it makes sense that the only way to undo this would be to give up on being a superpower. I don't think Trump is that smart, but perhaps signalling to the world that everyone needs to be more self sufficient is perhaps the only way forward. Its maybe time to do the exact opposite of what everyone expects. I for one feel very strongly that the current financial system based on ever expanding credit cannot be fixed. Its has to absolutely collapse. So how would one go about fixing the current system? You can't attempt to manage the books better, show you're going to be more responsible and borrow less. The system requires always expanding credit, and at a faster rate when you get into the end stage. But the fix can only happen once the current system breaks since there is no way to actually fix a system that is corrupt at the core. Its a ponzi scheme and you can't fix that... you can only replace it with something else. So with Trump specifically, I think that things have to absolutely be broken. Let tariffs wars escalate to such a point that you realize you're on your own as a country. Let the debt ceiling fight not get anywhere. Walk away from the wars, as perhaps the only best chance of actually ending them. I doubt Trump is smart enough to have a master plan, but I guess I like the fact that this is all so radically different, and even if it all spectacularly comes crashing down, I think the chance of building something new from the ashes is the only real hope, rather than trying to stick to the same path that the US had been heading down for the past few decades.
I don't disagree with everything you write but some things that lead you down the MAGA path that are inconsistent with modern societies. On what I agree with, yes the US debt is becoming dangerously unmanageable as we slowly reach a point when debt servicing will require all of government revenues. But this debt is a consequence of our political system, in which each party accuses the other of wasting taxpayer monies and both overspend on their particular interests when they're in power. There is simply no process to reign in on spending and both parties are happy to share the bounties and the blame every 4 or 8 years. MAGA is like the 3rd party we all needed, to kick the ants nest and watch mayhem happen as both traditional parties scream bloody murder for disrupting their nice little arrangements. In a way, they are the modern populist revolutionaries of the right wing type. Where I disagree is on the role of government. Unlike you, I believe a strong government is essential but the US is a weak government in which decisions by elected officials are too often held up by unelectes judges. I didn't vote for Trump but he won the election and should be able to run the nation without having to resort to executive powers to move his agenda forward. The same ought to be for any elected government. Government has many, many important functions to fill, most far too intricate for most people to understand and the reason why so many citizens think it's ok to cut 10, 50, 100k jobs. Without checks and balances it could become a bloated tax money sucker. But the fault lies not on the Administration but on those elected to control monies and actions. Is anyone wondering why the first to go is USAID? You'd think Defense and NS would lose a few jets and whatnots first. Cut 10% of an 875B budget for 10 years and your 36T deficit is cut by a third. Modifying the tax system to ensure wealthy individuals can't use loopholes to dodge taxes would also help.
Good Morning MarkBrown, Biden gave ALOT of money to Ukraine country, in the billions. My family and I sure could have used some of that money. And other poor people in America could of use that money. Biden was VERY wrong for doing that.
Good Morning newwurldmn, If he was not smart, he not be worth a billion dollars and President for the 2nd time with felony convictions. My Heroes and Mentors are below by ranking: Donald Trump - I REALLY like him. Steven A. Cohen - LOVE THIS GUY Michael Milken Ivan Boesky - GENUIS Martin Siegel Dennis Levine Nancy Pelosi - GREAT WORK Nancy. @MarkBrown - great mind for retail trader to get rich quickly. @volpri - great simplicity to getting rich quickly.
I guess here is the problem though. I would love for the government to do good, and you would think that they would be the best at negotiating deals and taking on mega projects because of their scale. But since there is limited money, there is never any agreement about how the money should be spent. I for example think the war on drugs is ridiculous. Legalize all drugs. This will starve the cartels of income and eliminate gangs and cartels. If you want to cook meth in your basement and sell it, like they do with weed, do it. The government should have no role in deciding what you put in your body. But understand that you're on your own if you should happen to damage yourself. Don't expect the government to save you. But instead, we spend billions on this, and get nowhere, while at the same time making the cartels stronger. We also have different ideas about where the government should be helping other countries. Most don't agree with climate initiatives, but some do. Many don't want to spend money on war, but others do. So although all of us would love for the governments to spend our money wisely, there is no consensus, and so the end result is that all the money is wasted, and ends up being embezzled. There is no way to cut the waste and corruption, and especially so since we can't even all agree on what is considered "proper" spending. I also think that the private sector is going to be the best at efficiency because capitalism, if done right, has a built in mechanism to reward efficiency and kill off the companies that produce a terrible product or service. When you get the government to do something, it is always late and over budget. The role of government should actually be very small, and the power of states and cities should be higher. Take the department of education for example. Should the Federal government even have a say in this? Education is a very local thing. Each city has different demographics and challenges. Let the parents decide what city they want to live in because they see either the good education or crappy education in that city. Cities with good education will naturally prosper and the crappy cities can die off. So I think Trump is right when he says education should all be handled at the state level. In this world, all of us are consumers, and we are all capable of making our own choices. There is so much information out there already to allow for this. But the government steps in and wants to make every decision for us, and then send us a huge bill, and we aren't even happy with the services we got. Think of homelessness. In California for example, they consider it a win when they build social housing that amounts to $1M or more per unit constructed. Jesus Christ! The private sector could build tiny homes for a fraction of this. But this of course wouldn't put enough money into the pockets of politicians. So in my opinion, there is no way for the government to be efficient, and hence they should be very limited with how much power they have and how much money they get to spend. Let us all choose how we spend our money. A society will actually thrive under this model.
What's got me totally beat, people constantly complaining about money going to Ukraine to defend against Russian brutality and they never mention the billions of US money going into Israel. Wtf is that? And why is it that Europe, Canada, UK, Australia pour money into assisting Ukraine but we sure as hell don't pour it into Israel, only America does that.
I read an interesting article yesterday. Trump and Musk plan to send out "DOGE stimulus checks" in the amount of $5000 to just about everyone. So what's the difference? They're merely robbing Peter to pay Paul.
ur too stupid to explain it to you... all you do is hunt for negative shit. why did you keep your mouth shut with biden? and for your info we trump voters are getting 50k it's a insider thing.
LMAO Quit yer bitching already. While Biden was a bit silly in his old age, he didn't talk shit day in and day out. Trump, on the other hand, shoots shit out of his mouth non-stop. He says he doesn't drink, but he sure acts like he does. BTW you're also hella talkative these days, like that feisty cantankerous old fart.
