Requiring unanimity in jury verdicts is the rule in every state and in federal courts (Rule 31(a), Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure).
Can Defendants Waive Their Right to Unanimity?
Defendants in federal court cannot waive, or give up, their right to a unanimous verdict. But a few states will allow a defendant to waive this right, just as the defendant can waive other Constitutional rights, such as the Fifth Amendment right not to be compelled to testify. The majority of states, however, do not allow a defendant to agree to a less-than-unanimous verdict.

My former roommate who is a lawyer and now lives in Oregon once told me otherwise...

However, I just learned that the Sup Ct just struck that practice down in April of 2020.

So you are correct. Thank you for correcting me.

I remember reading sometime in the past two weeks that Trump threw out the idea of forming a "Patriot party". Or he never even thought of doing so. He said he was sticking with the GOP.

It wasn't meant as a correction. I had to look for myself.

Weeks wasted on this fiasco. So illegitimate that Roberts refused to preside over it.

Meanwhile we still do not have Covid relief. Where are those stimulus checks for the masses?

Suddenly the whole sense of urgency is gone. Basically they got the votes they needed so why should they follow through with their campaign promises?

  10. Great, now that this is over and done with the media can move on to other stories, Biden and his administration can focus on "uniting" the country, the democratic held Congress and Senate can go full steam ahead on delivering all those great things they promised, and Trump can go find a beach to relax on never to be heard from again.
    Bwaaaaahahaha, yeah that'll happen.
