Here's the thing about the peaceful protests - has it done a bit of good? Have any real, meaningful, long-lasting changes come about? In any city in the country? The senseless killing goes on but the focus on what we need to stop, for the most part, is destruction of property. A building has more value than a life. A black life.
Protests only bring awareness. Civil rights acts of 1960s was brought about because Congress finally decided to stop turning a blind eye to systemic racism and do something about it. Protests put it in front of them so they did play a role to motivate action in the 1960s. But now? meh
The burning, looting, and destruction of buildings by a bunch of white anarchists has nothing to do with a legitimate racial justice protest. Even the local leaders of BLM in North Carolina have stated this directly. Violent riots will not bring about change - it merely will have the majority of the population demanding that the riots be put down with force.
Good to see public officials finally calling out ANTIFA and Anarchists directly -- -making it clear they are responsible for burning, looting, and destroying. Raleigh Police Chief: Downtown graffiti from 'anarchists' https://www.wral.com/raleigh-police-chief-downtown-graffiti-from-anarchists/19307919/ The mayor of Raleigh Mary-Ann Baldwin said people who came to vandalize downtown Raleigh on Saturday night were "attacking" the local business community. Most of the people who caused the destruction downtown during riots were white, according to Baldwin. Those people "used this as an excuse to incite violence to our downtown business community," she said. Vandals, according to Baldwin, distract from peaceful protests for racial justice and a "cry of peace and unity." On Saturday night, 12 arrests were made. Chief of Police Cassandra Deck-Brown said there will likely be more arrests as police investigate the vandalism that occurred. Glass was broken in storefronts and buildings in downtown Raleigh and multiple walls were sprayed with graffiti. The people who are causing the vandalism are "different each time," according to Deck-Brown. The 12 people who were arrested on Saturday all had local addresses – from Durham, Raleigh and Cary. "Clearly some of the tagging last night was indicative that they were anarchists," Deck-Brown said. The symbolism that was spray-painted downtown showed that, she said. As of Sunday morning, the Raleigh Police Department had not charged anyone with vandalism. "We are not going to allow people to vandalize and [destroy] our community," Baldwin said. Before the vandalism started, a couple hundred people gathered at Nash Square downtown around 7:30 p.m. (more at above url)
Good to see more arrests of ANTIFA members will be occurring... Raleigh police chief says ‘more arrests coming’ after downtown protests lead to damage, vandalism https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-ne...r-downtown-protests-lead-to-damage-vandalism/ Protests held in Breonna Taylor’s name ended with multiple downtown businesses being vandalized again and at least a dozen arrests. “There were those, mostly white, who used this as an excuse to incite violence and cause destruction of our downtown businesses community,” said Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin. Baldwin said the city did what it could to keep things peaceful by closing streets for protesters and directing police to wear blue uniforms instead of riot gear. But she said a group of people who strayed from the peaceful protesters had other plans. “Their message from the moment they gathered right across here in Nash Square to the media was, ‘shut off your cameras, because things are going to get bad’,” Baldwin said. People in the crowd were seen burning the U.S. flag, setting of fireworks, pulling down barriers, and throwing rocks at police. Officers arrested 12 people during the protests. Charges range from assaulting an officer, public disturbance, unlawful assembly and resisting arrest. “I have no doubt there will be more arrests coming, as we have to obviously investigate the damage to the various properties that did happen,” said Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown. Clean-up crews spent Sunday covering up graffiti, sweeping up newly replaced glass storefronts that were shattered, and reinstalling plywood over broken windows. “Everybody thinks Americans are so civilized,” said Gus Samarco, who lives in downtown Raleigh. “Like, why or how something like this could happen?” Baldwin said she’s optimistic the community will grow from these dark moments, and that downtown businesses will recover. “I spent many years working to build our downtown and our small business community. I am not going to go quietly and let that destruction happen,” she said.
Any of the coverage I have seen, admittedly very little, has shown both whites and blacks. Still Chumpie, along with help from the so-called fake MSM, are using the look squirrel tactic to our detriment. But what I will say I see whites overwhelmingly (this topic among many here) exemplify is White Outrage but not over black deaths. Over side issues like Antifa.
There is a clear lesson out of all of this -- typically peaceful protests with media coverage lead to change. And violent riots do not lead to change and are forcefully put down by the government --- with the entire message of the "protests" being lost in the riots. Ghandi very much demonstrated this point. Of course there are many recent examples of peaceful protest leading to change: 2000 – The Bulldozer Revolution, which led to the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević. These demonstrations are considered by many to be the first example of the revolutions that followed in Georgia and Ukraine; however, the Serbs adopted an approach that had already been used in parliamentary elections in Slovakia and Croatia in 1998 and 2000, respectively, characterized by civic mobilization through get-out-the-vote campaigns and unification of the political opposition. The protesters in Serbia didn't adopt a colour or specific symbol (the most recognizable symbol of the revolution was a stylized fist), and despite the commonalities, many others refer to Georgia as the most definite beginning of the series of "colour revolutions." The demonstrations were supported by youth movement Otpor!. 2003 – The Rose Revolution in Georgia, following the disputed 2003 Georgia legislative election, led to the overthrow of Eduard Shevardnadze and his replacement by Mikhail Saakashvili after new elections were held in March 2004. The Rose Revolution was supported by the civic resistance movement, Kmara. 2004 – The Orange Revolution in Ukraine, followed the disputed second round of the 2004 presidential election and led to the annulment of the result and the repeat of the round—the leader of the opposition Viktor Yushchenko was declared President, defeating Viktor Yanukovych. The Orange Revolution was supported by Pora. 2018 – Armenian velvet revolution achieved in nonviolent transition of power to opposition, enjoying wide public support throughout the country. In National Assembly elections held in seven months after resignation of the former leader the party of the new government gained 88% of votes. However, it is not common to refer to it as a Colour Revolution, nor do its leaders use the term.
As a black man, I am very happy to read and hear Donald Trump is making an effort to help increase my black communities wealth. He as my vote.
SunTrader, I do not care about all that KKK or Antifia stuff. I hope they ban all that crap. I grew up 20 minutes from Jasper, Texas and experienced this below in the 10th grade. I say ban all those groups, and give help to the black minorities. We need it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_James_Byrd_Jr.
