Thank you. That's probably what was intended, as it makes good sense. Our ersatz "originalist"[Scalia] is dead. Otherwise we could ask him.

I, for one, didn't miss it. The "Patriot" Act was hugely damaging to our democracy.

There is a problem. There is little money to be made from a plain reading of the law. The more Lawyers whose mouths must be fed, the more complex becomes what is written. Eventually we argue not about what is written, but what was intended by what is written. That's where the most money of all is to be made.

  5. Not really.

For example I don't believe Nixon was either charged or convicted of any crime.

Ford offered him a blanket pardon for any and all federal crimes that he may have committed within a specified time frame and Nixon said: "I will accept that." The accused must also accept the pardon. There have been instances where the defendant did not want a pardon but wanted the right to go to trial or up on appeal and try to be acquitted instead.

  7. Judge Engoron is making himself to look like a true Country Bumpkin
even though he's probably a resident of Manhattan.
Or call him a "Bull in a China Shop".

Successful traders/investors are merely able to identify value before it is common knowledge.
    That's it.
'80s and '90s CEO of GE, Jack Welch ("Neutron Jack") put it this way:
"That guy could see around corners"

Ever wonder how JD Rockefeller amassed that fortune?
    He could see around corners.
He saw Kerosene replacing whale oil (JD actually saved the whales).
Then he saw the advent of automobiles.
JD was a total solutions guy.
He surveyed the land, drilled the wells, refined the crude, his chemists identified the proper "recipe" for gasoline ("Standard Oil"), owned the gas stations.
Elon Musk needs to read up on JD.

Every trader (and wanna-be traders) wants be JD Rock.
Failure to execute usually morphs into the show-stopper vice of ENVY/JEALOUSY.
JD cheated, Trump cheated, etc. I've heard it all

Excellent period movie "Amadeus" a loose bio of Mozart.
The protagonist is a true historical figure Antonio Salieri (played by Murray Abraham),
eventually submits fully to his envy and jealousy, proclaims himself to be "the champion of mediocrity".
Salieri is content with that role for himself,
Seems Judge Engoron feels pretty good about it too.

    Best written verse:
    "Hasten, brothers, on your way
    Exultant as a knight victorious."
Ode to Joy, Symphony 9, LVB
    verse by Friedrich Schiller

    Alternately
    "Don't Count Other People's Money"

I took a second quick look, it wasn't a history lesson. There, that is my evidence. :)

Here, to make this thread not a complete waste:

A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, "This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you."
The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, "Which do you want, son?" The boy takes the quarters and leaves.
"What did I tell you?" said the barber. "That kid never learns!"
Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream parlor.
"Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?"
The boy licked his cone and replied:
"Because the day I take the dollar the game is over!"

Life is short... When you deal with someone who does not care for evidentiary logic then the only way to communicate with them is... "Broken Record"
