It would have been better to let Russia take Ukraine in 2 weeks then let them get slaughtered for 2 years than take it.
In 2020, when Trump was President, we had about 62 conflicts occurring in just 2020 alone in the world...about 9 involved the military that lasted several weeks or several months. Several occurring in the Middle East including between Israel/Palestine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_Israeli–Palestinian_conflict_in_2020 To be fair to Trump, about 1/2 of those global conflicts were inherited when he took office. The same is true for Biden...he inherited the global conflicts too. Sadly, the media decides which conflicts merit national headlines and which ones are completely ignored. Simply, it's time for the world to stop depending upon the United States to fix global idiots that want to kill each other. Unfortunately, the world has always looked for the U.S. to fix their problems or request assistance to fight an enemy under the belief that if the U.S. does nothing...the fighting/conflicts/battles/WAR could spread and then injure/kill American soldiers or American citizens living abroad. Another issue, America is a melting pot of citizens with strong connections/families in other countries. Therefore, whatever happens in other countries...it is guaranteed it will anger many Americans in the United States...angry enough that one ethnic group/religion will attack/protest/attack another ethnic group here in America for what is occurring in another country. Will these global conflicts stop if Trump wins the Oval Office, if Biden wins the Oval Office, or if an Independent wins the Oval Office...these global conflicts will continue to occur but too many naive Americans believe one U.S. President can control others in the world and/or help solve their problems. It's the same naive belief America has historically had with every U.S. President since George Washington. Yet, I do understand the dilemma considering what occurred in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam... A country as powerful as the United States decides to sit back and does nothing or takes a neutral position under the naive belief to let those countries fix their own problems...those conflicts can spread quickly into a global WAR...empowering them to think it's OK to attack America. wrbtrader
The US can give a helping hand when it's warranted, especially with a coalition of like-minded countries. But as you suggest, they can't fix all the world's problems. Especially when there is unprecedented political infighting.
And these falling numbers factor in they still have hope to win.If they lose because they ran out of weapons the numbers will be much different.
If Russia wanted to invade your country and run it under its dictatorship, would you just look at the numbers?
Before his presidency, Biden had a history of working with the other side and getting things done. But the political animosity and the MAGA sycophancy is unprecedented. It's a different world. Seriously, please get real.
