https://www.yahoo.com/news/kinzinger-m-not-courageous-m-141533598.html Kinzinger: ‘I’m not courageous … I’m surrounded by cowards’ Lauren Irwin Wed, September 4 Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said he is not courageous for speaking out against former President Trump, calling other Republican lawmakers who feel the same way but remain silent “cowards.” Kinzinger joined “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday evening, and he was asked by the late night host if other GOP lawmakers feel similarly about Trump and MAGA politics but aren’t speaking out or are not as vocal as the former Illinois congressman. “Oh, there’s so many of them,” Kinzinger said. “And that’s the thing, is like, people will tell me sometimes, ‘Adam, you’re courageous.’ And I appreciate it. “I’m not courageous, though. I’m surrounded by cowards.” Kinzinger was one of 10 House Republicans to vote to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and one of two Republicans on the select committee investigating what happened that day, along with former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.). He’s become a staunch critic of Trump and the modern Republican Party. He endorsed both President Biden and Vice President Harris in their presidential bids. On Tuesday, he said he expects Cheney to speak more publicly soon because she is “so committed” to preventing Trump from taking office again. “But there are so many people I talk to that are sitting around like, ‘I just can’t speak out,’” Kinzinger said. “They’re scared.” Kinzinger said that while he was still in office, he had Republican members of Congress tell him that they appreciate what he’s doing, but they could never do the same because they would lose in their districts. Kinzinger joked that he knew he was going to lose in his district by speaking out, too. Kinzinger chose to retire from Congress in 2023, after Illinois’s congressional map was redrawn with one fewer seat, forcing him into a tough primary. The former congressman said he wasn’t surprised by the level of vitriol he’s experienced since speaking out against Trump and leaving office because Trump has “built a cult.” He said he was shocked by the number of friends and family who have disowned him since speaking out. “This is what’s happening to families all around this country, is they’re being torn apart for a man that is more flawed than anybody that’s ever sat in the Oval Office,” he said.

One of the things he’s especially not good at is picking running mates,” Kimmel said. “He made a huge mistake with this JD Vance, who can’t stop stepping in it.” Vance has been in the headlines all summer for his painfullyawkwardcampaignappearances and resurfaced comments attacking “childless cat ladies” and “miserable” women without children, among others. “For a guy who wears more eyeliner than Liza Minnelli, you’d think he’d have a better understanding of women,” Kimmel said, adding that Vance looks even worse considering the “home run” Vice President Kamala Harris hit when she picked Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate. Kimmel noted that Donald Trump Jr., one of the former president’s sons, reportedly pushed his father to pick Vance, who is now one of the most unpopular VP picks in memory. “Another good move, dumbass,” Kimmel said sarcastically. “If Trump loses this election, he’s gonna sue his son to take the ‘junior’ away.”

Trump says convicted criminals should spend time behind bars. Donald Trumphadbetter hopethe US justice system has a moreforgiving sentencing philosophythan his own. Earlier this week, Trump's national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, told theNew York Timesthat the former president "believes anyone convicted of a crime should spendtime behind bars.” Leavitt made the comment in response to the re-conviction of Jamie Davidson, whose domestic violence sentence Trump commuted in 2021. NBC Newsasked Leavitt about the comment and questioned whether Trump would apply it to his own conviction. “President Trump believes criminals should spend time behind bars, unlike Kamala Harris, who wants to eliminate cash bail," she said.

(SEMAFOR) Ex-Trump adviser’s Russia link Dimitri Simes (left). Ramil Sitdikov/Host photo agency RIA Novosti via Reuters The US charged a former adviser to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign over his work for a sanctioned Russian TV network. Dimitri Simes had helped draft a Trump campaign speech that called for an “easing of tensions” with Russia. The charges came a day after the US accused Russia of widespread election interference, which the Kremlin dismissed as “nonsense.” Meanwhile, a grinning Vladimir Putin said Thursday that he favored Democratic nominee Kamala Harris over Trump, in comments many experts agreed were “high level trolling.” US intelligence believes Moscow prefers Trump in the White House. “There is only one presidential candidate that is so much in favor of Russian interests,” an expert told CBS News.
Back in early August, the FBI searched the homes of Simes --- as well as the home of Russian propagandist & pedophile Scott Ritter. Let's hope that Ritter gets locked up next.
