The Hurricanes are our local team. Our local sports commentators were making them out as the underdog going into the series. The Rangers, winners of the Presidents' Trophy as the team with the best record in the regular season, should have been the top contender of the two teams going into the series. Yet for some reason the betting lines had the Rangers as the underdog. The local Hurricane fans are sad now that they are one game away from elimination -- but most don't seem surprised.
The top team in the regular hockey season and then becoming the "underdogs" in the betting odds has happened before several times. It's a strange phenomenon that has occurred in professional hockey more than any other professional sport. Sometimes I wonder if it happens because the NHL is doing some promotion magic in the background to get the sales up quickly. My two favorite hockey teams sucked again...didn't do anything...management sitting back and getting too fat off the past: Montreal Canadiens and the Chicago Blackhawks I'm now supporting my backup teams: Vancouver and Edmonton. I do not care which one advances. wrbtrader
Vegas based on what sports fan are thinking. Exactly the same as current political "polls". Let Stark Raving know voters elect on election day. Poll respondents give their opinions beforehand.
2 favorites, 2 backup teams? Come on man. One team and one team only. And my team is the one I brought up NY Rangers for life.
Utter nonsense. Vegas polls are what people think will be the outcome of a sports game.Political polls are who voters say they will vote for.
And in the 75 years since polling started no incumbent president with Biden's approval ratings has won re election Good lord, negative 18
You do know Donald Trump is running for President, not Congress. "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States."
