There is a real risk of a trade war coming if trump's rhetoric is to be believed. The last round of tariffs he imposed was like 10% I think. Still slightly painful but was engulfed in many ways by inflation. 40-60% threats I have read is a whole different ball game. It will cause a huge spike in prices and these tariffs in many cases are on goods we do not make really. So Americans will have to pay and we could see retaliation. Chinese is a much bigger economic threat than a military one to be honest. All the dick swinging, China is not going to invade Taiwan or attack like Putin did. But Americans want their cheap shit and China knows this.... The only real solution will offend many of you hypocrites but involves corporate welfare of hte likes never seen. You cannot punish American producers who chose to go overseas while bending over to bring in foreign plants. Give US producers benefits such as significant reduced taxes to move production here, no property tax to build plants, no income tax on new production moved here, subsidies to offset labor cost, Grants to cover growth etc.. This is the only policy that will work with the benefit coming in increased U.S. employment, down the road contributions to the economy etc. But it will grow the deficit initially and require huge "spending" but could have long lasting economic benefits. I did not hear one word about this from trump or harris so small minded thinking wins out. Sad that Honda and Volvo get huge breaks to come here but we wont do that for U.S. production to make sure it is viable. Sadly due to the ignorance of America they simply buy into "Put on tariffs and let CHina pay for it!" Do not underestimate the U.S. consumer who is in charge...they want cheap shit now so Made in USA means nothing but expensive.
