I lost connectivity to Market data circa 3:30 PM EDT. By 3:55 PM EDT, it was back up. Fortunately, I had no open positions to worry about.
It's time for IB to stop stupid and useless fancy features! It's time for IB to build a solid and reliable trading platform! No fancy features! Just a reliable trading platform! Is that too much to ask????
It appears this issue wasn't unique to IB, I hear multiple brokers had connectivity issues as some Internet backbone broke down.
TradeStation was fine, I traded the nice little break, my IB connection was down-makes me wonder if I need IB anymore, as I don't trade stocks no longer. I'm in euro zone btw.
The POS died on my computer after the connectivity problem. Guess I am in for another reinstall ! YES I REPEAT AFTER YOU It's time for IB to stop stupid and useless fancy features! It's time for IB to build a solid and reliable trading platform! No fancy features! Just a reliable trading platform! Is that too much to ask????
If this was related to a major Internet breakdown then this has nothing to do with "IB not being a reliable trading platform".
I lost connection and brought up PingPlotter. It shows lots of network rerouting taking place and very high packet loss. The national telco carrier(s) must be having problems. This is still going on for me here in the Washington DC area as of 4:29 ET. The Verizon DSL trouble line is extremely slow. It finally (4:29) reported trouble in the Fairfax, VA and 50th Street in NYC, as well as a recent problem for Area Code 607 in NY. 607 is Northwest of IB in CT. Jack
