There is a recession on Bob. High unemployment. People who are unemployed have trouble paying on their loans. The media always exaggerates though. You won't be interested in hearing about stuff that isn't startling. Most have their loans paid off before forty. But some of course do not. Those are the ones the media will tell you about.

Banks have more political power than individuals.

Ask them. What did you spend your money on? Why did you buy a bass boat instead of paying off your student loan? People make bad financial decisions every day. Maybe they were unemployed for a long period and couldn't pay. Each situation is different.

  6. Its financial engineering that is the cause, the ease at which propositions can be packaged up as complex financial products and resold to unwitting investors. It is not our duty to fix their behavior but to profit from their stupidity, both students and creditors.

  10. I've told my friends a million times - a job in government is no longer "public service". The public is now a horse to be ridden to enrich the government, and its friends.

There IS a relatively new remedy here. Hack and leak all government documents describing illegal activity. Because of the internet, ANONYMOUS leaking has never been easier.

Your opponent tells you what hurts most. The Obama administration's hair is on fire over hacking and leaking. We need to press forward as hard as possible in these areas to find out what our government is really doing behind closed doors.

This week a U.S. Senator (Menendez) is being raked over the coals of hell, probably by a single individual. This individual has anonymously leaked to the internet his emails with the FBI, and the national media (ABC), laying out Menendez's activities with 15 year old (child!) prostitutes, and even the prostitutes statements, names and home phone numbers! NOBODY CAN STOP IT!
