Here's a nickel's worth of free advice. As we enter the holiday season, get away from FX and get into micro-futures, with a long bias. You may do better than the profits you are taking at the moment. Here's a primer.
i have stopped buying above bars and selling below bars.....this turned my trading around .....i have learnt to sell above bars and buy below bars......that led to losses for many years since it is not easy to manage it ...where should stop go? so i put a catastrophic stop and scaled in many times.....scaling in must be planned for in your trading plan and i learnt to do that. but this is for those with an open mind......it is not advisable for beginners but eventually everyone who wants to trade all the time must learn to do this
i am testing live what will happen if i sell below good looking signal bars and buy above good signal bars i am using minimum lot size want to see how much money i make doing that
anybody who starts brooks should forget all his set ups and start with channels..everything he ever said about channels. i did not do that and once i did it-saw a lot of vids on you tube-my trading turned around.
with Al's method context is everything. context means the left side. Is the immediate context a trend or a range. This is not as easy a question as it may appear. Then you know whether to buy above /sell below bars :this in a trend. or whether to buy below bars /sell above bars: this in a range. Brooks talks a LOT about buying above bars , selling below bars , buying below bars, selling above bars..... i used to wonder why? what the fuck difference it makes? it took me 14 years to understand what a difference it does make. This is horrendously difficult to do but everyone is looking for easy..... and it is very easy to call Brooks a cock sucker. using context means using hind sight to trade.......and that means trading should be bloody easy.... so why do majority find Brooks hard? because most traders like looking for and trading set ups. not context. set ups is easier to find. But brooks only uses set ups for risk management :no one understands this! context is more difficult but most do not just bother to focus on that. Everyone knows what is a trend and what is a range. BUT very few knows what is a trending price action and what is ranging price action. THAT is what brooks is trying to teach.....and tiny minority has the persistence to learn and understand and laugh to the bank
