OK folks, here's a question: Let's assume, for a moment, that a few people in that town had some information damaging to the Treyvon cause, ie, assume they know what happened, witnessed something, had a text that he was planning something bad wrt that housing development, drugs, whatever. Do you think that they would feel free to come forward and give that information to the special prosecutor now? With the black panthers looking on?

I don't think so... I don't know what exactly happened, but unfortunately the chance for justice to work here has gone down to zero with all this publicity, Sharpton, Jesse, et al... not to mention that Obama declaring on prime TV that Treyvon looked like the son he never had elevates the victim to the level of sainthood - how can anyone now say anything bad about that young man?

Which goes to show you: politicians are not out to see justice done, just to gather votes for their personal power trip. Where are these same people when they need to defend the victims of black-on-black crime? :(

    LOL Yeah...maybe...but I doubt it.

Like that's going to make a difference. If she gave a rats ass about him in the first place she wouldn't have allowed him to become a hoodlum.

  5. Great post. A few of us have been asking that question about the black-on-black crime.

Probably once a month some kid under the age of 12 takes a bullet in gang crossfire on the south or west side of Chicago. Where are all the race hustlers to end the violence when that occurs? Frankly, they've already given up hope on turning around most of the blight.

  6. Unbelievable isn't it.
Almost so outlandish a claim that it would require proof to be taken seriously.
    Kinda like ...

This is probably to prevent others from making a commercial profit off of Trayvon Martin's name rather than with the intent of the family to make money off their son's name themselves. This was probably a step recommended by lawyers.

You do realize that the names of anyone who has been in the public spotlight including musicians, entertainers, business executives, and others have their names trade marked by their families to prevent others from making a commercial profit off their names. Many times this occurs after they have died (e.g. Steve Jobs).

If that was the case why would they only trademark 2 phrases, its not as if someone cant just use something else. All they Trademarked was "I am Trayvon" and "justice for Trayvon"

I am not surprised that they picked these phrases. My understanding from another article is that there is also a filing to trademark his name.

I do not know why the family limited it to these two phrases, maybe they are the most common ones the family is seeing on posters, etc.

I expect that they are getting guidance from lawyers on all of this.

Sybrina Fulton is seeking marks for the phrases “I Am Trayvon” and “Justice for Trayvon,” according to filings made last week with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In both instances, Fulton, 46, is seeking the trademarks for use on “Digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin,” and other products.
