The "cops made the right call by not charging Zimmerman"? You mean the police force who admitted they failed to properly investigate the shooting to the town council. The police force whose chief just received a 'no confidence' vote from the town council and was removed from the job. The police force that is about to lose it's certification from the state of Florida and be disbanded this week. With the associated DA who was removed from office by the state. These are your "cops that made the right call by not charging Zimmerman"? I see the problem here.... I hope you can see the problem here. This is why competent authorities are now investigating the shooting and Florida's top prosecutor has been placed in charge of following the legal process.
Why don't you go back to the google maps I posted and the times of the 911 calls - and see if you can do some math and see why the start of Zimmerman's story that he was walking back to his car does not add up. So... how nice... you found an article with Zimmerman's claims to police (this has been out for days). Did you ever find an article with your 'secret witness' that backs up Zimmerman's claims that Martin assaulted him while he walked back to his SUV? I actually do applaud you for posting solid links to your information.
This is all politics... The entire police force doesn't investigate a single case. Unless you think the detectives (whose names I don't know BTW) were incompetent in their investigation and can point out how. I'm only going by the story so far and so far I think they made the right call. That being said... who knows what else may come to surface?
I will also admit that I do not know what word Zimmerman used after listening to the tapes. I do not know if it was "coon", "goon", "punk", or something else. But I am not an expert in this type of analysis and I am trying to listen to the compressed audio via the internet. I expect there are experts with proper lab equipment who could figure out what was said much better than me.
All I would expect in the case like this is that a proper investigation is performed (which clearly the Sandford police department admitted they did not do) - and the results of the investigation are placed in front of a grand jury. The grand jury can chose to indict or not indict based on the evidence. If an indictment is delivered then I would expect that a jury would deliver a guilty or not guilty verdict at a later trial. I would accept the results of the legal system running its proper course. I am not OK with an incompetent local police department not investigating a shooting and simply sweeping the incident under the rug because the victim was a black teen. Which is what happened until a huge public outcry occurred across the nation regarding this incident.
Just a single question GWB... have you ever been in a fist fight...? Trust me... You get pretty desperate when someone is on top of you beating you down. Even with training... you would sometimes do anything to get that person off of you... I think that's more or less what happened to Zimmerman. AND I think the law is on his side because Martin went "out of bounds"... For the record it doesn't take too many hits to the head past a certain point to give someone brain damage. After that... A few more puts them in a coma and possibly kills them... So if Martin was bashing the back of Zimmerman's head into the sidewalk, Zimmerman was probably close to "lights out" if you know what I mean.
They did investigate it and they found no grounds for a charge... Just what exactly are your grounds for charging Zimmerman...?
I looked at your post of the google maps. All I could see were the balloons with the same dot in them. No way to tell which was which but I don't see how that matters anyway. You don't know from where Zimmerman was walking back to his SUV.
On the 911 recording you can hear Zimmerman screaming for help. When the police arrived they found him seriously injured. I guess given that his head was being slammed against the pavement Zimmerman felt, obviously, that his life was threatened and pulled that .45 ACP. Hard to believe someone would carry a .45 concealed, it is a huge and heavy weapon. Zimmerman should not have followed Martin earlier but he broke no laws. Martin should not have layed in wait and then ambushed Zimmerman assaulting him and seriously injuring him. Totally lawful shooting. I can see why the police spent zero minutes afterwards. Why should they? It is as straightforward as can be. I imagine somebody trying to abduct Zimmerman in order to collect the Black Panther "capture" bounty is going to be looking down the barrel of that .45 or worse. Likely nobody is going to bother Mr. Zimmerman. Still, if I was him considering that he has no travel restrictions and is not charged with any crime I would go to South America or Spain and rent a small villa in a remote region and lay low.
