Drudge had a link that I posted near the front of this thread that says there was an eyewitness whos statement was the basis for releasing Zimmerman at the scene. The police won't release the name of the person for fear they will be attacked. That eyewitness said that Zimmerman appeared to be walking towards his vehicle and Martin was laying-in-wait and ambushed Zimmerman and assaulted him breaking his nose and lacerating the back of his head (Martin had Zimmerman on the ground). Zimmerman got ahold of his gun at some point and shot Martin.

When the eyewitness statement matched Zimmerman's statement the police ruled it as a lawful shooting. Florida has a "stand-your-ground" self-defense law that says you don't have to back away or otherwise flee before using lethal force. Zimmerman had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

This Zimmerman guy is an overzealous wannabe cop and this act is pretty despicable but its important to stick with the rule of law imho.

In California Zimmerman would have been arrested for murder. Here we cannot shoot a burgular even if he assaults us and there are lots of cases where burgulars are suing homeowners who shot them inside of their home. Basically in California if you shoot anyone for any reason you are going to jail. In the next town over from mine a man was assaulted in his garage by 4 people and he pulled a gun and shot them and is sitting in jail charged with murder, no bail was granted.

First I want to tell you I do not think Zimmerman is racist. No. I think he hate black people who are the criminals. What I think is he see the boy only walking. He know some black people before rob in that neighborhood. Then he call 911 because he see this black boy. He tell 911 the boy is walking around, he tell them he is suspicious, but he NEVER tell the 911 what is suspicious. So he think in his mind that boy is criminal because before some black people rob in that neighborhood, so he think the boy is guilty too because he is black. Then he follow that boy when the 911 tell him no. And he follow that boy with his gun too. You tell me where is the boy's rights? Many people of this thread NEVER defend that boy to have his rights. His right to walk on the street to not be followed and stalked when he do NO CRIME. Why?

Why do you say the boy walking the "restricted area"?

  3. Hey...:D

I think TL is a fine upstanding poster.

She probably wears a disguise (fake moustache and glasses) to fool the rest of us. Imo, probably smarter than the average bear.

    Peace...

    yes
So? Where is it written I or anyone else has to follow 911 dispatcher instructions?
    BS
and an assault by the kid on the shooter
Well duh, but then I already conceded these.
Shouldn't there be enough evidence for a charge first?

Being something of a history buff this reminds me of the Salem Witch trials.
Emotional assumptions rule the day, facts and evidence mean nothing.

  8. Is this the link ?This link does not say that Zimmerman appeared to be walking towards his vehicle and Martin was laying-in-wait and ambushed Zimmerman

    http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/state/witness-martin-attacked-zimmerman-03232012

"The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: 'help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911," he said.

Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red.

The witness only wanted to be identified as "John," and didn't not want to be shown on camera.

His statements to police were instrumental, because police backed up Zimmerman's claims, saying those screams on the 911 call are those of Zimmerman.

"When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point," John said.

People in here are hung up on the events that lead up to this shooting.

Zimmerman followed Martin around the neighborhood in a questionable way.

To me though it seems obvious that what happened before any law was broken is irrelevant. Zimmerman acted like an ass following Martin around but he didn't break any laws.

When Martin layed-in-wait and then assaulted Zimmerman a law was broken. What happened from that point forward is what is relevant. All of the people questioning Zimmerman following Martin and saying that he should be charged with murder because of it are really clueless.

Zimmerman might indeed be a racist but he didn't break any laws. Martin jumped out of hiding and assaulted Zimmerman so Martin instigated the self-defense shooting. The cops evidently see it the same way.

It is a witchhunt and 320 years has passed from the Salem trials to now without much changing. Astonishing.

The Obama DOJ might charge Zimmerman as a political act to gain popularity for Obama in his reelection bid. Everything that Obama does is to be reelected not to benefit our country. I am sickened by it.

Aaahahaha, you really crazy nutmeg. And I know you are not defend that boy too, but I feel in my heart you know in your heart he have rights. He have rights like your son have rights. I know you have that son because I remember from your post before. Just like I know my brother have rights, in my heart the Trayvon could be my brother just walking on the street.
