Thanks, Prof. Interesting that your system bought an exact pivot low (1098.25) after a significant 3-push run from the open then left a lower high. That's a red flag for me if long or if contemplating an entry to the long side. As a discretionary trader (unless I was already still long from the 1094.50 entry signal at 10:20am), I'd be looking for either a reversal signal at that point, or a confirmation of trend continuation, preferably by entering @ 1101.50 (1 tick above the 1101.25 high at the time).
I've had the earlier description programmed based solely on oscillation outcomes. The win percentages are really good and drawdowns are light as you can see be the one loss. The programming is the bugger. Finding a programmer that understood the environment was near impossible. He is still in learning mode.
I find this thread interesting because I'm primarily a fader. Many of my colleagues and I have found this to be the most worse environment ever for mean reversion...
i have noticed the markets over the last nine months have been very random/efficient, at least the markets i trade. My trend following trades get stopped out atlot. My mean reversion trades get stopped out very often too.
you should look into the binaries once again. you misjudged their capabilities when it comes to provide positive expectancy in any trading environment. my 2c
no one can predict the market next move, even though at any given time, almost half of us will predict it correctly.
The OP is NOT a trend trader, he is a volatility trader. This bull trend were seeing is one of the strongest bull trends in 10 years. His system is obviously a system suited for vix>30 only. It does not deserve the label trend trading system.
where is Covell in this thread? Oh, I suppose he is on a lecture circuit to promote his snake oil... He does not use trend following, but says lots of great hedge funds do. Why not put up money with them, then? he refuses to state what he does with his ill gotten gains to sell "books" the are shills for some well connected hedge funds... I just do not know how he sleeps at night....
