Trend Following-Trend Commandments

I don't get all the fuss. Read about the original turtle traders and other trend-followers. There are multiple trend-following systems and therefore definitions of trends. They use different break-out/ATR levels or other indicators to determine trend. But the basic idea is buy/sell after a large move occurs and ride the trend until a substantial reversal occurs. How "large" or "substantial" depends on the system. And some may even by dynamic--perhaps they do walk-forward optimizations and change ATR or MA values as time goes on. But the basic concept isn't difficult.

While you're at it, you might as well try to get a single, universally-agreed on definition for mean-reversion trading, cycle trading, chart pattern trading, algo trading, Gann trading, Elliot Wave trading, etc. Good luck.

Maestro knows his stuff and has a proven track record. When he questions something there is a very good reason behind it.Some folks are just leaps and bounds ahead of 99% + of the pack.You might say he is one of those guys right up the front of the swarm.

In a thread he has been posting, is a link to his company.
Do some searching on the principles yourself.
There isn't a single "nut" or "novice" associated with them.
He is one of a handful of truly intelligent, successful and informed "traders" that frequent this site.

If you do the leg work you will figure this out for yourself. (He offers some insightful information in he posts but is adamant about, you figuring it out for yourself). Now ask yourself why the OP has such a problem with intelligent successful traders that don't agree with him. What is gained by calling such a respected individual a "nut"?

 

The anonymous hero worship of a few in ET is weird. There are clearly some wannabe Madoff's in training lurking around...doing their best Pied Piper imitation.
