Taking a quick look at your c2 page, couple of questions -- It looks like you trade NQ on a 24 hour basis, right? I see entry times such as "16:32" and "22:55"... Also, I assume you don't use stops (or use very wide ones)? For instance this trade: "5/23/11 10:25 BUY 52 @NQM1 2305.90" was down 25 handles or so by the next evening, before being closed out later for a small profit.
No doubt. I realize Michael refers to Dunn over and over but his equity swings aren't my cup of tea. Then again, Dunn would tell me that I'm not his type of client.
Rodney, I get impression bwolinsky is referring to paper trading account. He has several systems that performed poorly. No slight against paper trading but it is relevant when taking those kind of swings. C2 shows a margin call on that trade. His system has no autotrade data for it. No slight against you bwolinsky but seems relevant to point this out.
Meaning that in real life IB (or whoever) would have liquidated him at a big loss? I'm not an expert on C2.
If one wants to have an understanding about what can be seen in trend following returns--the month by months are posted across my books--going back decades for many traders.
Yes, likely but I don't know for sure. The overnight margin is $5600 for the ES contract: not sure for the NQ. Now, I'm not sure if they would just liquidate some of the contracts to meet CME requirements or the whole thing. C2 is a good service for those wanting audited hypothetical performance. I have 2 of the top ranked futures systems there (predictor discretionary and predictor day I use it for tracking my performance.) If real money trades exist the equity curve will reflect and real money trades will be listed under "auto trade" data. If a system doesn't have that tab then no real money trades were taken via c2. It is possible to take the trades outside c2 though. For past several months, I take all my futures trades at NADEX using their spreads/binaries as proxies to the futures. So, I don't have auto trade data but I do risk money on all my trades. Sometimes you'll see a scalping system with great returns start to lose money consistently. It is because C2 uses the real trade data fills during that period. C2 is not the place for scalping.
