How strange. I went through the timeline of probability and statistics and didn't find the name "Gann" anywhere, especially as the progenitor of moving averages. In fact statisticians don't speak of Gann at all.
He's already admitted in one of his posts in November (I posted the link earlier) that he doesn't trade. He made it sound like it was beneath him. He doesn't do any of his own research and has nothing to add to his credibility regarding his marketing of his turtle stuff. The same stagnant stuff he's been promoting for 15 years with some interviews thrown in for fluff. I'll give it to him that he is a great marketer but nothing more. I mean anyone that can talk investors into backing his movie has to have a great spiel. Great trader, great innovator, great author or great human being . . . make that call for yourself.
If you follow the subthread you'll see the assertion was that Gann introduced all of TF, including MAs, to trading. Seeing as how statisticians were using MAs before Gann was born, this assertion is absurd on its face. The notion that no trader was aware of MAs before the ridiculous concept of Gann angles "somehow" (but never actually articulated, let us note) inspired MAs is insane-asylum conversation material.
i think you really have to look at facts if your going to survive trading. you have to examine each data series history to determine if the data oscillates or trends mostly. that sets the base for the system if it trends you build a trend model and if it chops you build a chop model. armed with that ability you then combine the two into a sensible multipurpose model. and even though the above isn't a perfect system it is better than the wish of a one system method fit all approach which will most likely never hold up using a "fixed portfolio" why do i make that statement? because the answer to the neanderthal approach of trend following is to keep adding markets to the basket to improve the equity curve. m
Speaking of a dull knife . . . Surf's back. Seeing I've opening and repeatedly stated I am not a "Gann Fan" your statement is in error, typically and as always.
Me . . . right wing? At some point in the future I am confident your observations will become more lucent and less ripe with error.
When you live off "crazy checks" and other handouts from the gov't, I guess there's ample time to put together inane posts like Gayfry's.
