"Trend concept is now history." Pfft. This from the guy who said that time doesn't exist. (Please take a moment to appreciate the irony.) And if a trade just happens to be moving in your direction, what would you call that? A series of likeminded pulses?
Here is a an uptrend from January 2021 just on the freaking Yen alone (see USD/JPY 4h chart below). Do you think that just maybe you could have made some serious cash just by following this stupid trend...? And by the way, you can do trend-following as a day-trader (on the 5-min chart for instance), not sure where you get the silly idea that trend-following is all about investing for the long term?!?
%% Most call that a trend/main trend. Like one money manager in the WSJ noted + he manages about 77 billion+ noted a trend will go further than you ever think it will. That was in the WSJ with many asset managers in that section, past several years............................................................................
That's precisely the definition of trends, my dear Murray. Mathematicians have long noted that financial trends (in the stock, commodity, bond and currency markets) tend to last longer than statistically expected. That's why pure trend-following techniques have been delivering superior and consistent results for centuries, regardless of market or time frame.
%% I dont know if that 77 billion dollars asset manager that was bullish in the WSJ uses a 200dma?? But i do + its still going up in QQQ,SPY. But as noted elsewhere today, if SPY dips below 200dma in may, bears could declare victory/LOL, NOT a prediction, its a trend\counter trend comment + not going to stop all reading of Dr Suess
Well that’s new. All this while it was all about trends and now it’s pulse. Got to study more about it.
