For the ignorant, let me explain what "purple drank" is and why Trayvon was coming home with Skittles & Arizona ice tea, and why he was looking to score cough medicine with codeine based on his tweets. Purple Drank is a intoxicating beverage also known by the names lean, sizzurp, and liquid codeine. It is commonly abused by southern rappers and wannabe suburban teenagers. It is a mixture of Promethazine/Codeine cough syrup and sprite, with a few jolly ranchers and/or skittles thrown in. Promethazine with codeine, consumed in such large amounts as is popular with such southern rappers as lil wayne, slim thug, and Big Moe, produces an opiate-like high that is potentiated by the Promethazine. Promethazine by itself will not produce a high. The beverage must be sipped slowly, and not guzzled, in order to avoid unconciousness and/or life threatening overdose. Still believe that Trayvon was an poor innocent boy rather than a gangsta thug? If yes, then you have not been paying attention to the evidence. I should also note that there are questions if Trayvon had codeine in his system but this is not being reported because it is a legal substance.
Codeine is not a legal substance without a prescription so if he had in his system without a prescription its illegal.
I'm surprised the defense didn't try to get an expert to testify about this. Not that it is needed. Maybe they still will.
Keep in mind that the speculation over codeine in Trayvon's system is simply speculation... there is no evidence at this point to support it. IMO it is more likely that Trayvon was bringing home skittles and iced tea to mix up a batch of 'purple drank' and did not have codeine in his system yet.
What do we really know about the perp? 1) He's a racist. He referred to Mr. Zimmerman as a "cracker". 2) He's a drug user according to toxicology 3) He's violent as witnessed by the beating he gave Mr. Zimmerman 4) He's into a criminal subculture as evidenced by his tweets 5) He thinks he can beat up on a smaller guy that is interested in stopping criminals in his community but the smaller guy has a Tec 9 and hollow points for just such an occasion. LOL
