Arrogance is certainly not unimpressive either, and the sexism is right in there but I like the feisty vibe.

And this post closes the latest experiment on philanthropy and its effect on the giver and unworthy takers. Always remember to kill the messenger, never mind the message. :)

Not that you need to know, but SEAL Team 6 was dissolved in 1987.

You would never guess why. Not even close. End of transmission.

Ok, so I went through the next HIT technique yesterday.

This time is was 15-15-15 followed by 8 to 12.

There were about 7 exercises to this workout, but since I used the leg press as an example last week, I will do the same this time just for consistency. The leg press was the last exercise in the group this time around, just FYI.

The weight was set at 380lbs just like last week. So starting from the bottom position, you push the weight out until you get ALMOST to the top, so you can't lock your knees at all. Then when you get there, you have to do a slow 15-second negative rep until the weight stack gets one inch from the bottom.

Once you get there, you have to do a 15-second positive rep back up to the top. So unlike last time, I didn't have to just hold it there at the bottom (which is good), but that 15-second cadence was very, very hard for me. There's just something in the human brain that makes you want to push that weight up quickly, but you aren't allowed to. Now that I think about it, once your legs start burning at the bottom position, it's sending pain signals to your brain that are saying, "Get this pain to stop right now!", so you just want to push the weight up quick and lock out.

Anyway, once I got that 15-second positive rep over with, I had to do another 15-second negative rep by lowering the weight down slowly again until the weight stack got really close to the bottom. My legs felt like they had blow torches on them at this point. And just when I thought the nightmare was going to end by him telling me to drop it, he said about the last thing I wanted to hear at that point:

"Ok, Baron. Now give me 8 - 12 regular reps. You can do it."

I can't really describe what the next 9 reps felt like. But it's a feeling I won't forget anytime soon. The burn was just off the charts. But you know what? I banged them out somehow, and that's all that mattered to me.

The crazy-fast, sprint-like breathing is coming on strong and by this point, the workout is over for me. But hey, I didn't need to lie on the floor breathing out of a paper bag this time, which is awesome. :D

The whole thing from beginning to end lasted probably 12 minutes or so.
