Trading with Market Profile

  1. Thanks to you whitster, that sounds like an expert.
May I ask you which data provider you use for IRT?
(I am downloading the Free Demo from IRT, now.)

  2. i use Interactive Brokers for MP (investor RT)

it is FINE for market profile purposes

it is not real tick by tick data. for that, i use tradestation.

but MP does not need real tick by tick data (iow, the exact # of shares on each individual trade and the exact # on bid vs. ask).

IB aggregates its tick data in a fast market.

i actually chart through quotetracker, tradestation and investor RT.

i also have two ameritrade accounts, but don't use their charting

IB charting sux. don't use their charts.

Does any body out there using Trade Station have an ELS or ELA for Markey Profile that they could share? I would very much like to try out a decent MP indicator on TS.

    Comments appreciated,

    Ron

  6. Apply the activity bar study price distribution or volume distribution. Set your data on 1 or 5 minutes.

I have some more examples in this thread

Interesting chart. Did you make changes to the code of the original study?

I can't get the same chart you have for YM. Care about sharing settings?

    Thanks.

I first started trading with market profile 3 yrs. ago.
It made the most intuitive sense. I have studied and
used profile trading since then. My charting is with
Windotrader and my favorite books are those of Jim
Dalton (markets in profile and mind over markets)
Profile trading has not made me a genius, and I continue
to have spells of poor trading, however all in all I am much improved from days of using fibonacci or trend line or the like.
The truth is that trading is difficult. It requires one to be
able to read the intentions of those taking opposite positions.
There is no magic bullet. But profile trading is a huge leap
    in the right direction.

Windotrader is by far the best software for MP trading.

    I apologize to all!

I am new to this forum and thought that with my above post that I was replying to one of the first few questions which asked about software ( I was rereading old posts)

I have no connection with Jim Dalton other than having studied his work. I have read Steidlmayer as well. Obviously Steidlmayer knows Profile trading, since he developed the theory, but his writing is (at least for me) difficult to discern........by the way some of his writing on MP is FREE on the CBOT web site.
Dalton's two books explain Market profile better than any source I have found.
Windotrader is much better than esignal, cqg, photon trader, trade station or any other MP charting software.
