guy2, great work on the charts.....extremely helpful! i''ve been studying MP for 2 months and new to daytrading e-minis (former equity swing trader). I'm also new to e-signal and use the MP add-on so I've only seen about 10 days of real market action using the MP structure. Your charts really help to reinforce all the theory. Thanks!
Guy2, Your posting of multi-day MP charts is a very valuable tool for a new student of MP like myself. I have read all posts in this forum more importantly concerning Trading methods for Market Profile and confused with terminolgy used defining types of day as neutral, balanced etc. I was wondering, if it is not asking too much of you to give analysis on the chart as follows: How many days of POC direction be watched to determine trend. Type of day, each day of the week. Based on yesterday's profile and today's opening, how would you position your trade setup and your target and stop loss. Would you take the trade on open OR wait for IB to develope ? And any additional pertinent information that a trader should consider of MP before taking trade ? Thank You.
Hi Guy2, Very good site and interesting videos! It's quite fascinating how the market plays out at 90x speed. BTW, what software that you used to create those wonderful videos? Thx.
To create? To record or to generate? To record the video I used Camtasia. To generate the bars and MP at 90x speed I used eSignal in playback mode with the DVATool loaded. (The parameters on the DVATool were modified for the video to just show the DVAH and DVAL and graphic.)
Two new videos showing Single Print formation on 28 Feb and then same Single Prints filling in and the market action around the Single Prints the following day. Single Print action in Market Profile Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback on the last set of videos. Let me know what sort of video you think will help you next and if possible I'll try and put one together for you - no promises except that I'll try.
I'm trying to convert the following xls. from IQFeed to eSignal. It's a neat program that tracks the YM/INDU FV difference. Might work well with Market Profile as I try to track it manually now around the POC/VAH/VAL. If anyone figures it out please let me know. It's the YM Chart xls. on the bottom. http://share.esignal.com/groupcontents.jsp?folder=&groupid=672
just my 2 cents. my trading (i do YM futures on intraday basis primarily) has markedly improved since I incorporated Market Profile. One of my fave aspects of MP is that it gives indications as to what the LTFP (longterm timeframe participants) are doing, and offers wonderful key price levels to keep an eye out for. this suits my style, which is to have a strategy mapped out before the trading day starts as to where i'll be a buyer, a seller, and a standaside guy. sure, market internals, and other factors will amend these premarket "biases", but i have found that knowing where single print areas are, areas of strong price acceptance are, and POC's really helps me get into high probability traders, and more importantly - stay out of lo probability trades. i think part of the edge of MP lies in the fact that so few traders look @ it. EVERYBODY looks at a 5 min and or 3 min candles, tick charts, and the conventional indicators (which i don't use at all) so, shhhh............. don't tell anybody about MP
