Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I was really just trying to find out which numbers MOST traders will be watching MOST of the time. So I'm essentially trying to find out which method of calculating the VA is used by the largest sample of traders. Thanks for your responses
I have tried to be patient enough to read through the whole thread to find any recommendations for a website or reading material, but this is not happening. I'm a scalper and am considering adding Market Profile to my arsenal to come up with my own support/resistance levels. I currently use JS Services for that and would like to cut that cord. I would feel more comfortable doing my own analysis for the products I trade for myself and my group. Can anyone recommend a really concise (less theory and more practical application) resource for learning the use of market profile on an intraday basis? Maybe a website or book that would be considered the "bible" of Market Profile? Thanks and happy trading.

Thanks. I have a lot of patience while trading. My butt is sore from sitting here and reading ET posts on various things. Ran out of patience staring at the screen so long. The link is great. I found this... kind of heavy reading but I think it has what I'm looking for: http://www.cbot.com/cbot/docs/handbook.pdf I'd better clear my schedule for the afternoon and tomorrow to read this.
Hi , I was wondering if anyone (for a modest fee) could program the Value area based on the information found on the CME's website that depicts the TPO's and volume for the S&P full contract. Here is the link for the full size contract http://www.cme.com/dta/hist/cva.html?var=SP1204040920&var1=S&P 500 (SP)&var2=1 As you can see it looks like 1122- 1122.30 is a small price range where much activity transpired today (9/20/2004). May be a good reference point. If you use Microsoft explorer you can download this information into Excel and somewhere in this thread is a method for Calculating the Value Area. So somebody who knows Excel could do it I'm looking for someone that can take this information and create the Value area so I don't need to pay for it from a vendor. If anyone has any comments on this link or any useful Market profile info then please respond in any way. Thanks for your time.
FuturesTrader71, I really recommend Mind Over Markets, it is far more practical and trading-oriented than the CBOT manual or Steidlmayer books. Good luck!
No responses at the site...thanks for the link though. Hopefully somebody will come thorught withthe program
Thought I'd try in this thread as I haven't had a response in the thread I started. They offer a couple of courses..a 4 month and a 12 month. just curious if anyone has taken either and if you had any feedback. thanks
