THE MODERATORS ARE HERE........BYE GUYS.... I'M OUTTA HERE.... dbphoenix and TM_direct can take over now....with their useless crap....
About ranch. There's a website called "CopyKat Recipes". This is from Michael's in Annapolis: 2 C. Buttermilk 2 C. Mayonnaise 1/4 C. chopped fresh Parsley 1/2 large Onion, chopped 1-2 Garlic cloves, finely chopped As you can see, there are few carbs here, if you use mayo. Add: When I started the lo-carb thing, I had to start making my own salad dressings because the bottled kind had so much sugar, but nothing could be simpler. They're just mayo and something. Mayo and ketchup. Mayo and ketchup and relish and chopped eggs. Mayo and pepper. Mayo and salsa. Mayo and avocado. Mayo and dill. Mayo and tomato and bacon. You get the idea.
OK...I'll admit it ...i watch Emeril from time to time ...Im telling you if you are looking for low carb he is the man...he never uses low fat anything....he makes some awesome dressings and almost all his sauces are low carb...check it out and you get some great ideas.
You can have it both ways if you like. The "light" mayos are virtually identical in taste to the regulars (NOT the fat-free) with half the fat, and the increase in carbs is minimal (2g per oz). Plus you will most likely be thinning them with water. So lo fat, lo carb, and no sugar.
In a restaurant if I'm not sure of the available dressing's carb content I order mayo and mustard on the side and oil and vinegar. In a glass I stir up mayo, oil, salt, pepper and just enough mustard to give it a slight flavor, the water is added to give it a thinner consistency. delicious.
I have deleted many posts in this thread. Babak has posted once. I don't know if he's deleted a post here or not. I will continue to delete posts that are off topic and lack civility. Or just lack respect for those who wish to continue discussing this topic (after detractors have already made their case). If you don't like Atkins, don't bother responding to me here. It'll be deleted. Why? It's not censorship. We've had 4 maybe 5 people now come in here and disrupt this forum. It's old. And it lacks respect for those who wish to talk about the subject. André Edit: For those who do want to talk about low carb lifestyle, don't respond to this either. I've deleted those posts as well. Let's just get back to the subject matter.
the stew was awesome....I let the potatoes but did have the carrots because they are just to damn nutritious to pass up.....does anyone know if certain carb heavy foods can be reduced by cooking them a certain way?? I heard that once but i don't know.. BTW Im doing that mustard BBQ thing tommorrow in the crock pot wiht some chicken...can't wait
I don't know that chicken's such a good idea. The mustard sauce is great with ribs, or any other pork, like center-cut chops, but not so good with brisket or chicken. You'd probably be happier with a tomato sauce. You can use the same recipe I gave before, just using all tomato puree rather than part tomato and part mustard.
