If you like them Carolina style, or are interested in trying them that way, there's an easy low-carb, sugar-free mustard sauce you might like.

    1/3 C tomato puree
    2/3 C yellow mustard
    1 C malt vinegar
    1 t chile powder
    1/2 t black pepper
Splenda to taste, or brown or white sugar

Incidentally, there is a way of keeping them on the grill for several hours at a low heat if you like the smoke flavor. Let me know if you're interested.

  2. Bodybuilders are people too axe. They too are subject to same misconceptions and misguidance in the areas of nutrition just like normal people.

A wide variety of pre-contest nutrition is practiced by bodybuilders depending on what they THINK is right or believe gives them the best results. Doesn't mean their choices are always correct. Basically they do the low carb thing before competing becasue they BELIEVE the practice induces a mild state of dehydration reducing water content just beneath the skin making them look more defined. Get the facts straight for change, will you axe?

One practice that IS widespread among them is LOW FAT DIET all year round! Funny you never mentioned this. THIS they get right! If I didn't know better I'd say you were deliberately selective in your choice of info to post because you have an agenda of some sort :D

    GO HEAVY OR GO HOME!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nutritional status of nationally ranked elite bodybuilders.

Kleiner SM, Bazzarre TL, Ainsworth BE.

Friedman-Kester and Kleiner, Gates Mills, OH 44040-0367.

The nutritional status of 11 female and 13 male elite bodybuilders at the first drug-tested USA Championship was examined through food records kept by subjects. Diets were repetitive and monotonous, and average daily energy and protein contents were relatively similar for men and women. Percent calories from protein, fat, and carbohydrate were 39%, 12%, and 48% for females, and 40%, 11%, and 49% for males, respectively. Females consumed 0% vitamin D, 52% calcium, 76% zinc (as percents of RDA) and below the Estimated Safe and Adequate Dietary Allowance amounts for copper and chromium. Males consumed 46% of vitamin D RDA. Although dietary magnesium intakes were above the RDA, serum magnesium levels in females were below reference values, which should be investigated. Serum zinc levels were high in men and women. Eighty-one percent of females reported recurrent contest-related amenorrhea for 2 +/- 1 months precontest. Dietary intakes of men were adequate but the restrictive intakes of women may place them at risk for calcium, copper, and chromium deficiencies.

  4. Fortunately, I never really got hit by a 30's fat attack.

I put on some body fat (for me) in the last 2 years due to
a diet super high in simple carbs and complete lack of exercise.
(Everyone would still say I was skinny though)
I'm lucky not to be carb sensitive. Most people would have
ballooned up to 600 lbs eating the shit carbs I was eating :D

But I cut out the simple carb crap, replaced it with protein,
and wham, melted all the fat off in a couple of months
    with almost no exercise.

Now im at my college weight. WAY LOW.

So now im starting my body building from a good base.
Need about 15 lbs of lean tissue and I will feel and look awesome :D

As mentioned before, dodging BREAD is the hardest thing to do.

Also....I eat out for 95% of my meals.
It's very hard getting enough protein and dodging carbs
    in a CARB CRAZY world.

Sometimes I have to order DOUBLE, ditch all the rice, and bread,
and eat the protein with the greens. Gets pricey.

I've never understood why steakhouses offer nothing but rice, potatoes, and bread. At least I can buy tenderloins in bulk through a commercial vendor and grill steaks myself (cut the way I like them and at a fraction of the restaurant price).

  8. Body builders have tried everything via trial and error
and over the years have zoomed in on what actually WORKS.

The ZONE diet also calls for LOW fat, so what is your point?

I didn't want to pick on you TOO much, but Venuto
mentioned the Ornish diet in one of his article.
Body builders tried it year ago, and it FAILED.

HE also mentioned vegetarian diets. You wont find very
    many championship vegy body builders.
The only vegetarian body builders, are not pure vegetarians
and consume TONS of dairy products to get their protein.

Now notice the ratios in the study you just posted:

Percent calories from protein, fat, and carbohydrate were 39%, 12%, and 48% for females, and 40%, 11%, and 49% for males, respectively

39-40% protein - VERY HIGH - Over DOUBLE the RDA amount
and definitely not what Ornish would recommend
11-12% fat - Half the RDA
48-49% carbs - low to moderate

Now according to Venuto, look at what happens to
the body builder diet near competition time, they
    switch to:

    50-55% protein
    20-25% fat
    25% carbs

Lets compare this to the zone:

    40% protein
    30% fat
    30% carbs

Hmmmmmmmm........ Seems like the ZONE diet is the
closest to a MEGA FAT BURNING diet out there.

Now go away LongShot, before I have to slap down
    your silly arguments some more.
