Trading while trying to lose weight on Atkins

  1. The body can use all types of fat as it's largest source of energy. They provide about about 9 calories of energy per gram. An athelete carries 12% of his fat as energy reserve. The other 3% is essential bodyfat that acts as insulation and cushioning for vital organs. You see reports of atheletes claiming them to be less than 3% bodyfat. These reports are probably hype or instrument error.

In 18 years the Colgan Institute in San Diego, CA. has never found an athelete with less than 4.5%. Below that you are on the edge of illness.

  2. In the spirit of this thread, the achievement, however difficult, isn't related to dieting to lose weight, i.e pounds, not ounces.

  4. Whether you're losing 30% to 20% or 10% to 5% it's fundamentally the same process. I don't get you...

  6. I challenge you ad Tom Denuto to go down to the Colgan Institute with me and we can let him underwater weigh or use the near infra-red inductance using the Futrex 5000 device.

This is hype! That is not 3.7% bodyfat.

  7. well then your premise is total BS. :p

I KNOW OF WHAT I SPEAK FROM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE JUST MAKING GUESSES BASED ON WHAT I DON'T KNOW. GET FROM WHATEVER % BODY FAT YOU'RE AT NOW TO AROUND 5%, THEN COME BACK AND TALK TO ME.

getting to ~5% body fat ASAP, while maintaining as much muscle as possible, takes a real effort. if you think it just happens easy, I CAN TELL YOU HAVE NO CLUE.

for years i went through trial and error, reading as much info as i could. after a while, i learned what works best. i have an excel spreadsheet that has all kinds of calculations. every single week i measure my weight, body fat, and body part sizes to make sure i'm staying how i want to be, or if i'm progressing how i want to progress. my excel sheets calculate everything. my calories change every day depending on how much exercise i do and if i want to gain, maintain, or lose weight.

every time i eat something i either write it down or try to keep it in memory. every day i put what i eat into excel so i know that my CALORIES ARE BALANCED. if i overeat, i will eat that much less the next day or do more exercise. i also make sure i get the optimum amout of protein ACCORDING TO SCIENTIFIC STUDIES. there is so much more to it all, but to say that getting to 5% body fat has nothing to do with losing weight or dieting is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. actually, absolutely ridiculous is an understatement.
