  1. 7-7 1/4 a small wrist? I don't think so.

  2. After spending a lot of time in weight lifting gyms,
my experience has been quite different.

I've never seen some little skinny dude who could
    bench that much weight.

He wouldnt happen to have 4 inch long arms would he? :D

I've never benched that much, but have very long arms
    that work against me.

Agree on the wieght lifters versus body builders.
But who wants to look like a power lifter? :D

  3. 6.5 to 7.5 inches is a MEDIUM wrist according to:

    http://www.sbch.org/healthyliving/fitness/jan03fitnesshealthyweight.htm

Men taller than 5 feet, 5 inches:

    Small frame:
    wrist smaller than 6.5 inches

    Medium frame:
wrist size 6.5 inches to 7.5 inches

    Large frame:
wrist size larger than 7.5 inches

No offense taken :). My dad, brother and I all have long arms (we can come pretty close to touching our knees while standing fully upright), and my wrists and fingers have always been slender. Can't really explain it. Back when I was into boxing (yeah, I miss that heavy bag too) I always had to make sure my wrist and hand wraps were nice and tight or I risked busting them up just by working out. My forearms are admittedly in pretty sad shape right now though :(, so I can see where you might have derived your conclusion.

If he loses his bodyfat his wrist will dip under 7. That IS smallish. For comparison, Mike Tyson is also about 5'11', with much much less bodyfat -- his wrist measures EIGHT INCHES.

  6. Yes, and 8 inch wrists qualify for LARGE according
    to the scale I posted.

But even just 6.5" are considered medium.

How do you come up with 7" being small?

Wow a 6.5 inch wrist on a man is pretty small but they consider this meduim which is another way of saying average? I don't know...

I've read otherwise but I can't recall just where at the moment. In any event that 6.5 to 7.5 range does seem a bit "rangy" but right now I can't give more to show this.

Another thing is on that site they seem to figure ideal weights in an arbitrary fashion, like they are "ballparking" their recommendations.

Incidentally, just out of curiosity I measured my wrists and they are 7 1/4. Still don't see what that has to do with anything though.

If you have thick bones the wrist (and ankles) are also thicker meaning your skeletal frame in general is also thicker overall giving "small", "medium" and "large". Another way of saying large frame is 'stocky". Small frame -- "Thin". Medium -- "average"

The hands also belie your frame size to some extent.

Champion bodybuilders need a meduin to large frame to look large. Too large of bone structure and they look too "boxy". Too small they look too slender. Medium-large just about right. They look large but proportionate.
