  1. ONE lonely teensy weensy study is this all you can come up with .. .. bwahahahahahaa! what a joke. established nutritional science is quaking in its boots on this one. bwahahahahaha!

and the study proves nothing. "exercise recommendation"?? "very popular diet book"?? bwahahaha!

it doesn't say "atkins". it doesn't say what fat/protein levels were. the study is further contaminated with other variables such as "exercise recommendation".

what a joke of a study! is this it? what you hang your health on??

    bwhahahahahahaha!

what you seem to be unable to grasp my dear max is that one could lose weight on liquified PORK FAT if one so desires.. but i wouldn't recommend it.

    or to put another way..

    ITS THE CALORIES STUPID!

    LOL.

oh my what lengths we'll go to have our hamburger and eat it too.

  2. 1. "...the study is further contaminated with other variables such as "exercise recommendation." Your burning issue is now inclusive of whether or not the diet is efficacious?

    2. Post a quote from any of your "research" that is specifically on the Atkin's diet plan. Not hamsters or other rodents, not red meat diets that include the normal heavy American carb intake.

  3. Max:
Your research is WAY outdated...theres studies from this year that show that a low carb high protein diet not only reduces weight......but LOWERS cholesterol more then LOW FAT diets.....The AMA is boggled by it.....the whole Pyramid of food they pushed down our throat in the early 70's has resulted in an OBESE country....i've said it before and i will say it again...this will become the next big tobacco type suit....Millions of Americans gave up steak and meat and loaded up on low fat milk, fiber and bread......and now they have higher cholesterol, diabetes and other ailments.....HUGE suits will follow once the AMA admits the Pyramid is a CROCK....

  5. gee sys you must be prone to hysteria...LOL

the AMA is NOT boggled by any such thing you maroon.

and the food pyramid is not going out the window... it is being revised as it should be with new forthcoming new data and knowledge but not in direction of cranks like atkins.

post those studies right here right now

  7. "Despite his findings, Dr. Westman is still counseling patients that a low-fat diet paired with a program of exercise is the best plan for sensible weight loss and heart health." (it's his own study, his own findings and he won't recommend it, lol)

"The fact that those on the Atkins diet lost weight is not that surprising. It can likely be explained by the tried-and-true method for losing weight: Eat less."

"There is also a diuretic effect to the diet so some of the weight loss can be attributed to water loss, said Dr. Westman"

"For one thing, there is the possibility that the weight loss prompted a drop in cholesterol, Dr. Westman said."

"Another possibility is that the low-dose fish oil supplements, which were taken by the Atkins dieters, had a pronounced beneficial effect on cholesterol levels."

"There is clearly short-term danger," said Neal Barnard, MD.."

"The Atkins diet can also lead to unacceptably high calcium losses and an increased risk of osteoporosis, he said. High-meat diets have also been linked to an increased risk of colon cancer, said Dr. Barnard."

"People should not change their eating patterns based on one very small, short-term study," said American Heart Assn. President Robert O. Bonow, MD"

WOW WEE, PROOF POSITIVE!! lets all jump on atkins bandwagon!!

LOL, above are a few "mind boggling" excerpts from your "study"

what is mind boggling is anyone would get on this diet after reading this particularly in light of much better alternatives for which there are reams of evidence.

Look out AMA, the lawsuits will soon be flying, outraged dieters from across the nation will be lining up to file their suits after reading this!...LOL

thanks for link, proves my point very nicely.

    HA!

  8. Listen to yourself...you asked for one shred of proof right here right now...and I put it out there for you ....you lose.

also, the Dr. does not OFFER scientific EVIDENCE as to WHY he believes it's not good and if you read all the quotes, everything is based on his 'speculation'....so ATKINS has PROOF and RESULTS...the bashers have.....speculation...no answers.....take off the blindfold man....

  10. ...I'll tell you what ...YOU put up DEFINITIVE proof of ATKINS :

    1) not lowering weight or cholesterol
    2) harming people...

Not SPECULATION, Not it Could cause this or that...so far they have no definitive proof of it's harm ...only speculation from the same doctors who created an obese country....but fortunately, i don't have to worry about that...im lean and mean and can bend you over the wood pile and make you my bitch:D ....if you don't stop, I might really pass you the "bacon " and have you biting the pillow and praying that i use the 'butter' to ease it in:D
