Duh? I think not. Only part of the equation. For one thing, it's dependent also on the method of metabolism. A fat burning metabolism can process a higher number of calories and still cause weight loss. In fact, its method is to use some of the body's own fat stores as part of its energy source.
Total calories are the primary determinant of how much you weigh, but not of whether you are healthy or feel satisfied with what you are eating. -------- Another store-bought low-carb bread that tastes pretty good: Nature Ovens Bakery Mild Rye Bread 70 cals 0.5g fat 13g carb 4g fiber 3g protein Add some ham and cheese, and you'll be under 1:1 carb/protein (and probably less than 200 cal.s total).
losing weight is a function of caloric intake. eat less calories you will lose weight. carbs are not the problem, total calories is. 9 calories in every gram of fat. only 4 in every gram carbs. you can eat twice as much, feel full and satiated with carbs. substituting fats for carbs is unnecessary and unhealthy. :-/
With all that insulin being pumped into your system? Sure, just be prepared for the possible onset of diabetes.
high fat diet promote diabetes, not carbs. atkins has got your head full of squirrels. :-/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/...ve&db=PubMed&list_uids=12898005&dopt=Abstract
Read your own link or be honest in your quotes. The article is a study of a diet high in saturated fats in hamsters. For a human study try this: http://healthfactsandfears.com/high_priorities/newsflash/2003/diabetes071703.html "Researchers reported a positive association between the consumption of saturated fats and the onset of type 2 diabetes in the July 2003 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Scientists at the University of Minnesota and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concluded that "...the dietary fat profile, particularly that of saturated fat, may contribute to the etiology of diabetes." The study evaluated the level of various fatty acids in the blood, which indicate the amount of saturated fat present, in 2,909 adults aged 45-64. Over 250 of these people developed type 2 diabetes during a nine-year follow-up. The researchers accounted for numerous factors known to significantly affect the chances of developing type 2 diabetes, including age, sex, cigarette smoking, baseline body mass index, and alcohol intake." Amazing, they didn't account for the major perp in the onset of diabetes-- the intake of sugar and carbohydrates.
FPC is right. all these people like dbphoenix recommending not having orange juice or something.....i just laugh. i drink all the orange juice i want. i drink all the beer i want... BECAUSE I TRACK MY CALORIES. if i know i'm going to be drinking tonight, i won't eat as much during the day so that i have some calories left to take in. having a diet coke instead of a regular coke doesn't mean shit if you still over eat by 500 calories every day.. hahaha FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!! if you want to lose fat, i would say have the regular coke, cuz it tastes better, but then KNOW YOUR DAMN CALORIES!!!!!!!!!!! i have totally given up on this thread. people just don't listen. this thread is so full of bad advice it is just absurd. it really is the blind leading the blind and that is no joke. people are throwing out diet tips left and right, yet they have no idea what they're talking about...although they THINK they do. this thread is probably a bunch of fat asses exchanging diet tips! and above all, most people won't do what it takes even if they knew the right thing to do. being in perfect shape, i totally understand why only like less than 1% of the population is like me. it's a lot of work every single day. btw, "diets" are not the way to go. IT'S A LIFESTYLE CHANGE. go ahead and go on some diet, lose a few pounds, then return to your normal habits. you'll be a fat slob again in a year or so. funny how all these "traders" here can trade, but they can't even calculate their own calories... :-/ aren't traders supposed to be disciplined?! how about having the discipline to manage your fucking diet every day????? who cares how much money you have if you look like a damn pig. IMO, ANYONE WHO LIVES THEIR ONE AND ONLY LIFE AS A FAT SLOB IS A TOTAL FOOL. AND DON'T GIVE ME SOME CRAP ABOUT GENETICS. THERE MAY BE SLIGHT DIFFERENCES IN GENETICS RELATED TO BODY FAT, BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE CHOICES YOU MAKE. I RAN 3 MILES TODAY, LIFTED WEIGHTS, AND I COUNT MY CALORIES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THAT IS HOW IT'S DONE!! WHAT DID YOU FAT ASSES DO TODAY?! ROCK
