Oh really. Very interesting. What is the composition of your diet in terms of daily grams of Fat/Protein/Carbs?
Oops. I forgot about nuts. I eat an ounce of nuts each day (various types, net carb/protein ratio of about 1:1). Am in middle of eating dinner (green beans, egg, cheese, whole grain bread). Will respond later to your last question.
And please tell me why limiting diet to 10% Fats is ludicrous? I can't wait to hear this one. (you better have a good reason or i am gonna whup up on you big time )
This is the best book (handed to me by an accomplished body builder) I've read to accomplish physical goals in a healthy way. Truly ground breaking, Natural Hormone Enhancement. http://www.extique.com
Randy, the health risks of high levels of saturated fat intake are well documented. Is this being disputed by the Atkins advocates? Hmm, that would certainly be surprising. I was under the impression that diets favoring higher fat intakes, in the region of 25-35% of total calories, proposed monounsaturated fats? If this is so, then your protests are certainly not addressing the issue at hand, are they? Could someone clarify this?
Ok. (Thanks Max, too). Let's say you've determined that you should be eating 100grams of carbs, for example. That would be "net carbs", right? (That's what I understand according to Max). So, in reality, you could really be eating 150grams of carbs, but balancing that with 50g of fiber, right? Am I understanding this correctly? (Sorry for the questions, I will get the book on Monday, just curious. )
Hormones are the key to all metabolic activity. Growth hormone is largely responsible for controlling the rate at which we age and store and use energy (burn fat). In short the book explains how to nearly cease aging, diet correctly with both carbs, fat and protein and evaluate the most beneficial way to work out from a hormonal stand point. Many good ideas have been presented in this thread, I feel nhe pulls from the best of all of them.
It's ludicrous because you can't get normal people to stick to such diets (not because you can't construct a healthy one that has only 10% fat). And that's why you really-low-fat guys piss me off. You're continuing to lead people down paths that are a waste of time. Food has to taste good and be filling, or the diet is worthless to all but those who enjoy torturing themselves.
i'm trying to take tony robbins' idea and eat "water rich foods", which means mostly veggies/fruits since it's healthiest.... cutting my protein down a lot, and switching from white to brown rice, and all that... i wish we didn't have to watch our diets.. i like a lot of junk food, barbequed meat and chips and ice cream etc.. ah well, it's the tradeoff... I know people from japan have much longer lifespans, mostly cardio-related things like more fish, rice, less fatty stuff.. it's not easy to do, switching to 95% only healthy food. ideas on how to resist temptation? I like grilled shrimp, lobster in melted butter, heineken by the beach here in waikiki, all of that.. it's great! eating tofu, is not.
