Man, we had some people over for dinner this evening and they brought some of that Michelob Ultra low carb beer. I'll put it this way: There's two left and unless someone comes by I can pawn them off on, they'll become a permanent fixture in the fridge. Less than 3g of carbs per beer (as opposed to 13-18, depending on what you buy), but should you try it be prepared for semi-beer-flavored Zima. If you're already a light beer drinker you might find it more palatable. Be aware that I'm a beer snob though (the last time I drank any beer was before New Year's, but that's beside the point). I think all the time I spent in Germany in the 80s pretty much ruined me.
Update, I do not feel that I am killing myself (although you never know). I have less than peak energy but all day long I am way above low energy. I do not have to time my workouts to be one hour after I eat. I went out for the easiest run I have had since I have been married (about four years). I am also at the lowest weight I have been in 4 years. (I have lost a lot of fat and weight in one week) I really would like a good pizza and a few good beers. If you stick to less than 20 carbs a day, and this is the first diet you have ever attempted and in the past you ate what you wanted. I can pretty much guarantee you will lose weight because you will be eating better food. You will probably also consume less calories. By the end of the week you will feel like working out more. I still have less patience and feel hungry--- there is only so much protein I want to eat. I know if I keep this up I could get to any weight I wanted. I also know I love pizza and beer. It will be interesting. Vanity and health and long term good cheer vs short term happiness.
If pizza's a problem, try frying grated (not ground) parmesan cheese in a 8"-10" skillet over med/lo heat and using that for your crust. You can't glop marinara on it, but you can spread a thin layer of thickened sauce along with whatever meats and cheese you like and stick it under the broiler to melt everything. Or you can make a white pizza with no tomato sauce at all. Another alternative is a thin-crust, deep dish pizza. The ratio of meat and cheese to crust is much higher. As for beer, don't waste the carbs on junk. I treat myself to an occasional porter or stout or brown ale, but I'm not going to spend whatever carb allowance I might give myself on stuff like Bud.
Oh that sounds good db....i usually just order a white pizza and leave the crust....that way I can eat out with other people.
I just found something inspirational... Quote: No diet will remove all the fat from your body because the brain is entirely fat. Without a brain you might look good, but all you could do is run for public office. --Covert Bailey
you all so stupid ,, first you shouldn't be eating pizza,, but then you add insult to injury eating the high high fat cheese throwing away the "healthiest" portion -the crust. your sooooooooo stupid as all getup... (don't feel left out db, frying cheese for christ sakes! how much worse can it get?)
