I don't play victim. I reflected on the state of mind of individuals who have no qualms at upending the lives of the unassociated and innocent through purely selfish motivations but getting butt hurt each time someone points out the obvious. Where was your selective outrage when the lives of millions of people were destroyed far outside your circle of comprehension through mindless military operations that were motivated by nothing else but pride and arrogance. Degrees matter and perspectives matter. Millions of innocent lives destroyed because 3000 people died in a terrorist attack. Again millions of innocent lives affected and destroyed because a declining superpower stands powerless knowing there is nothing they can do to hold the actual perpetrators responsible. Blind and disproportionate responses by a power that can't come to terms that it can't and should not control the rest of the world...

Now that you asked...I am vehemently opposed to any act of aggression for religious, financial or "self interest" motivation...

My issue with you is your "presentation"..On one hand you say

"What do most innocent bystanders have to do with Putin? Nothing."

Agree 100 perent, but if one believes mass genocide is an act of humanity, then one should speak up...but not at the risk of ones one life

You lose all credibility when you then go on the attack and make a blanket judgement about the American culture...I dont judge the Russian people in any way,but you act as if you know the American culture and feel it to be weak and without relativity...You are guilty of what you oppose

"emotionally weak culture that is still reeling from a single terrorist attack over 20 years ago. Relativity is completely lost on this culture"

Genocide? I don't justify the invasion but equating it with genocide is farfetched and out of any proportion. Of course you judge Russians by being quiet about the ridiculous corporate campaigns to target each and every Russian worldwide. We are all complicit if we are silent to this cultural and racial onslaught.

I have noticed a strong narrative online, of people supporting Putin because:

The west is bad, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Libya, Nato in east Europe, Racism and slavery.

    All things I despise too.

So I wonder... How come those people, who are like me pacifists and against all injustice, now stand with a madman who threatened nuclear and invaded with missiles a country of brothers?

Now on ET we have a couple of user already on my ignore list, that registered recently and are firmly opposing the sanctions because they are "emotional" or because they touch ordinary people. Like if those sanctions were bombs, or forcing people to leave everything behind to become refugee.

    Idiot's mothers are always pregnants.

What dont you get??? Yeah, you dont "JUSTIFY" the invasion, but you sure as "F%$K" arent denouncing it...

Unlike you,I simply do not believe in staying silent while innocent humans, children are being murdered..And I get living under a dictator who will kill your family if you speak out of line.

If I judge ,it is Putin commiting an act mass Genocide...You think American people are culturally weak, thats your call...I dont agree

"the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group
    "a campaign of genocide"

Pacifist who hates others who disagree with him so much that he can't bear a discussion or exchange. What an oxymoron. It's easy to be a pacifist when you stay in your own echo chamber and put everyone on ignore you disagree with. And the one blocking all others who disagree with him and calling them emotional,.... Lol

I denounce Putin and think he has been and is one of the most vile and evil leaders in the world. This planet would be way better off without him. I denounce the illegal invasion. But I refuse to become emotional and angry and in turn punish hundreds of millions of Russians indiscriminately just because they are Russian on their passport.

And I equally denounce and believe some of the most evil and vile people sit in our midst and occupy the highest ranks of government to day trade by using insider information, fed bankers who trade and abuse their positions. Presidents who lie and cheat and where not a single word out of their mouths is a word of truth. Corporates whose greed trumps any minimum sort of decency and respect for humans. Leaders who enable a complete disenfranchisement of the middle class. Those individuals on many levels are way more harmful to our life and future than Putin. At least Putin does not hide what he is about. The cowards in our governments and in leadership are wolfs in sheep fur. They undermine the trust bestowed on them and cause an entire loss of faith and trust in government.

On a philosophical level we should value all life equally....

I agree with everything you say, with the exception that "our" Liars, cheaters and theives being more harmful that a Putin....

Granted Putin does not hide what he is about, but that doesnt make his atrocities any less evil..

Well, I compare the loss of life of a few with the lives of 329 million Americans who are enslaved to corporate greed for the benefit of the few who make the rules and enact laws to further their goals. That makes in my book leaders in the west way more dangerous and harmful to citizens than a pariah that invades another country for a few months and where a few thousand die. Not that we have to choose one over the other. But if I had to choose (which I fortunately don't have to) I would rather see a few dead than hundreds of millions enslaved and an entire future generation destroyed. We make those value judgements every single day. We let a few die in clinical trials for the benefit of the many that new pharmaceutical discoveries can benefit. We allow tobacco, weed, alcohol, gambling, prostitution so that the masses keep entertained. Nobody screamed out during the years of pill mills handing out opiates to the masses. Nobody tries to eradicate toxic substances that the masses consume on a daily basis and that we all know kill a few for the benefit of the enjoyment of the masses. If that is not hypocrisy at its best then I don't know what is. Not a perfect analogy I admit but I try to point out the biases and misalignment of value judgements. If Russia was the one supplying our goodies instead of China do you honestly believe the west and corporates would sanction Russia? Hell no. Nike and Apple and Tesla and all others would toe the line and shut up. Pure selfishness and greed that controls the actions of those in power. Not a care for the sanctity of human life.
