I have no experience and little knowledge when it comes to trading stocks. Is there a discount broker that allows say a US citizen/resident to directly trade stocks on the tokyo stock exchange? If so, what are the advantages/disadvantages between doing this and trading the OTC equivalent of a given stock? I've googled "trading tokyo stock exchange" and looked at various discount brokerages for info to no avail.

anyone knows how much shorting costs appr. in tokyo? and the counterparty is the exchange itself, right?
