    Would being in the opening range most of the morning be part of your rationale for this?

    Partly. We couldn't drop below 48 and we can't rise above 64 unless the ES gets moving, so why push it? I'm not a scalper.

    Observation: 64 and 48 are both equidistant (+/-) from the mean of the compressed range before the open.

    That earlier move is the kind of excitement you want to see when you initiate a trade. If you don't, be extremely careful.

    The apex of a hinge isn't exactly a barrier like an extreme, but it does represent an inflection point since it is that level which represents equilibrium. If and when you pass through it, the dynamic changes. The place to enter, of course, is the DB. If trying to enter at the apex, be prepared for a lot of back and fill.
