Looks like TT needs a more robust server monitoring plan. Based on their root cause analysis, the cause of the problem was over use of system resources from multiple services running on the same box. You would think there would be monitoring in place to identify this before the services crash.
It also looks like TT has some outdated equipment such as old hard drives in their servers. I have been using SSDs for years. Both need to get replaced periodically. I replace my equipment every few years. TT also seems to have problems with cancelled orders. I had problems with cancelled TT orders On the positive side, it looks like they are upgrading their infrastructure starting today.
Tradestation had a massive outage overnight a couple of years ago. Trade desk unresponsive for 3-4 hours. On that event I realized how important is a backup plan including your co-located server.
I typically run 3 or 4 different broker platforms from Maui, and rarely ever have any problems. In fact I am impressed at how stable the connections are - some are running around the clock & accessing foreign exchanges. Point being, no way is that your average broker performance. From looking at the TT site, this appears like they have stability issues going on for months - wow! Medium/long-term actions We are working on a roadmap to share directly with clients which will highlight the series of changes we will be making to both our scale/load testing procedures as well as any design or architectural changes to address the instability experienced in the last few months. https://www.tradingtechnologies.com/blog/2019/08/16/update-on-the-tt-outage-on-august-13-2019/
holy shit TT was still using spinning hard-drives? what year is it again? makes you wonder what else they were/are skimping on quality. and these guys have the gall to file bs lawsuits over frivolous patents smh vote with your money folks.
"But we are not forcing any trader to move to the TT platform until there is confidence of stability. We are working closely with our clients on timelines, but there is no edict from us on a mandatory turn-off date for X_TRADER. And while we have communicated sunset dates, those assumed a level of stability is met and proven on the TT platform that meets the high expectations of our global clientele"- from the tt note. fair play to them
What is fair play? Empty words that are just put out for marketing and perception management that do not reflect the actions, taken?
i was not forced to move, infact im still on the old tt and if i take a beta product i am aware of the risks..
it is unfortunate that he lost a lot of money but over a long enough trading career such things do happen. best to learn and move on. multiple brokers in this case. if you lose 50k on a trade you can afford a secondary broker. im not defending tt here as i've had some mishaps myself but if u consider the entire 14yrs i have used it , tt has been a great platform. i hear good things about stellar too.. have you had a go there.
