  5. Diversifying = mediocrity in one class of assets. "Speculating" for the home run by taking on too much risk, well maybe that is one way to look at it. But I look at it this way, real estate is one lump investment, one stock going for the home run is diversifying against your one lump real estate investment. (Third chunk to diversify is owning a business).

Many businesses fail as they expand, why? They require that double or nothing risk. Not my doing just the way it is. I don't think it is fair but that is how it turns out. You own one apple cart, and decide to expand to two apple carts. The added expense, another employee, strain on cash, yadda yadda puts the entire operation at risk.

  6. Yeah trading really sucks sometimes, any time you are not winning. And then it sucks big time when you realize you spent
so much time on it and missed out on other things all for nothing.

If you really want to trade I say don't take it too seriously, invest wisely for the long term and commit no more than 30% of your liquid assets to trading. And quit forever if you are down 40 % from your initial stake. Also put a limit on the time you spent trading , watching and reading.

  7. FOCUS and CLEAR CUT GOALS ARE EVERYTHING...you lose in trading or Real Estate or anything if you do not have both of these!!!

  8. looks like a good place to vent...

so far the last 2 weeks I've been

long natural gas and scaling in big...
long CME, ICE, NMX (thru a lot of near month options)
    short AMZN
long GOOG via aug options (short july calls though at least)
    attempting to short crude
attempting to buy BIDU puts all the way from 150-210. bailed on july puts at a loss last tuesday or so before it dumped..
missed out entirely on shorting the crack spread (spent time a few months ago doing it with utter disappointment and failure)
long GS 210 calls august from the 208 level.

-and automated system i designed is flat... sitting things out.

so tired of this as well...

thats my ticket to losing $$$. getting tired of being right in concept, wrong in timing.
