I just don't see how this would help a retail trader, cause by time you see it, automation of some hedge fund will beat you to it at reduced fees and the amount we speaking of is couple ticks.

In past two years I have expanded my concepts of just trading the futures as I have added trading Spot(cash), more though of each showing same reactions to decrease my volume, doesn't sound right but when charts announce something stronger, doesn't always make it right. Much comes from what you trying to accomplish and back testing.

But I wasted way too many years thinking in my youth that you have to have complicated systems to trade against the masses, as @JackRab said KISS best way to do consistency IF you concentrate first on risk management instead of profits like the masses just starting out. Too often highest profit systems have the worst drawdowns cause extra wide stops often needed to overcome noise. Stick to day trading and reading charts, trend lines and do much study. Trading well is like this, when you can beat the S&P Index every year by little smaller percentage the Index does but reduce the drawdown by half, you come out ahead, less risk and less risk my friend means you sleep better.

You also have to think first of getting out and not think of profits, you get into something that has less volume than say the Bund, a market for me very consistent, exits can be of slippage cause less and sometimes no volume. It is best to go with volume trading around the world unless you going for longer duration move like hourly, daily, weekly etc.

    Good luck.

Very well put. I don't want to speak too soon but I think I have had my first break through with risk management and sticking to one system and am going into my 6th consecutive profitable week which is a first for me!
I think I will stick with indicies for now. I am just trying to gain any additional edge I can!!!
I haven't heard of spot before I will have to look into that one :)

  3. Thanks for all the replies. I did some study. I think it is safer for someone fresh to futures to stick to trading within stock market hours. I remember clearly on the day when President Trump got elected. If one had traded outside U.S stock market hours, he would have been severely hurt when the U.S markets opened.
