Yes, the potential is there. It's just not that trivial to convert an existing Java application if it is GUI-heavy like IB's TWS to run on Android. They'll most likely start from scratch and incrementally add features over time. Interestingly though, you could have something like OptionsXpress Xtend platform running on an Android-powered iPad form-factor device with probably less effort: http://www.optionsxpress.com/promos/seize_the_trade.aspx?said=Home_OxXtend_TR Xtend is built on Adobe AIR technology which is basically Flex/Actionscript running in a Flash player. Upcoming releases of AIR will allow building for and deploying to Android devices. Lots of potential. Things should be looking good for Android in this department in the next 6-18 months. Brokers will have to decide whether to support both iPhones and Android devices (or even Windows Mobile) or just one of those.
almost all applications available for the iPhone for trading exist in some form for the Android cross search, as there are quite a few options trading firms have these available esignal has these available too I remember participating in programming and designing these applications over 25years ago on hand held cellular devices that communicated to their host supported applications over radio waves. In fact there were custom hand held devices that preceded esignal and other quote dissemination devices, but the ability to interact remotely with one's broker were very limited....
I've just seen that thinkorswim released one a couple of weeks ago but it doesn't appear to be on their website. There's none for Interactive Brokers yet. Just a poll.
Tablets have advanced a lot since this thread was started. Any new trading software developments for Android? The main feature I'm looking is backtesting capability. Thanks.
Personally I prefer TD Ameritrade Mobile Trader App for android devices. I like alerts and orders execution is pretty good.
