Trading Rooms: recommended or not

  1. However, I don't think traders on this site should dismiss Reaver's comments completely.

  2. My first post on ET was regarding Investools --- because I had just paid the bastards 995 bucks --- and I wanted to see if they were legit

  3. Anything crazy going on in mortgages mgabriel? Seen any more American Dream packages go through? LOL

The moron are out in force with this refinance business. Lots of people even in fixed rate mortgages refinancing for some reason right now, actually taking a loss. All they know is that CNN/CNBC said it's good to refinance right now, so they are doing it. Pretty funny concept.

Any idea why so many people are trying to take out equity loans all the sudden? Sorry to get OT here just wanted to ask if you had any news on your end.

Hey man I've been reading some of your posts, you're doing great. Glad to see it.

  4. If you guys are sincerely upset about the zero tolerance non-trading vendors who rip people without a second thought around here (and then PM traders like myself and Reaver, pleading poverty and saying "they're just trying to run a business, so can we please leave them alone" :p ) all you have to do is simply trade PM's with each other.

It really is just that simple, here, while I personally don't think anyone who thinks your average vendor is going to "give them the goods" I will repeat myself .. for those who are, well, kinda slow.

    Trade information via PM's.

It really is just that simple, folks do it all the time around here. The ET Universe is actually pretty small, and currently made up of an inexorbitant amount of traders who are new to the game, trading, and apparently life as well.

And it's not like we aren't willing to suggest people that we think highly of, now is it Reaver?

It's just that most of those folks don't come to ET.

    Get it? :D

  5. Good post.

I've obtained tons of useful info by utilizing the magic of PM's.

  6. FTR, it was "Mr. Don't Call Me Dude!" from Pureschtick who logged-on with a different user-name and started making racist comments (and this was witnessed by others here at ET) when he grew frustrated by my requests for him to explain how losing 80 ym pts to make 20 ym pts is a good thing. :p

Sooooo be very careful about throwing around terms like "scum", because you're going to find these vendors who will do anything to turn a buck fit the category much better than your average poster here at ET (whether they trade or not).

  7. Good. Now that that's in the open, I can say this. And No, this is not Reaver under another handle. I'm Torontoman and I've been a member for 2 and a half years.

I'm not pro or against these rooms. But I think that if you are going to spend the cash, it's compulsory that you read Reaver's and Mandelbrot's comments, not only on this thread, but others as well.

Reaver is very opinionated and has strong feelings. Read between the lines. He makes a lot of sense. And so does Mandelbrot.

  8. I learned to trade so I could make money TRADING. Not selling anything related to trading. I am not interested at all in ever, EVER selling anything to do with trading AT ALL.

I am very pro learning for yourself and being a self-starter at anything you do in life. I think that it is a handicap to have things handed to you in life. I argue that anyone who truly wants to learn should work their ass off to figure it out for themselves though trial, error and asking those who have blazed the trail ahead of them.

It's one thing to discuss trading with one of the old hat been-there-done-thats, but quite another to plunk down money on some $300/mo chat room or $5000 course.

One who has truly gained a grasp on trading is unlikely to want to part with their most hard earned knowledge for any price. They may however be willing to share info with someone who they can relate to or see some of their younger self in. That is called mutual respect. Paying it forward, whatever you want to call it.

Ask yourself this question: If you were a tried and true successful trader, why would you bother running around playing a salesman and marketing your wares for the sole purpose of imparting your hard earned trading knowledge on others?

  9. I appreciate your comments. I try to provide a counterpoint to all these vendor claims. I don't plan on giving away my hard earned trading knowledge (of which I'm still learning) but I think I can help others find their way by at least helping shed light on some of the faulty claims (and sometimes downright lies) being made by vendors here.

I think it's a good way to keep others on the right path without giving away the secrets I've worked for. My way of paying it forward to the up and comers.

If one can survive this game long enough without being picked off by some predatory vendor, they will generally figure this game out for themselves and kick ass at it.

Think of it like the movie Castaway, he got stuck on an island with no clue and no experience, but he survived long enough to become capable of thriving in the most adverse of climates. The human mind can adapt and learn almost anything, if given long enough to work at it.

  10. cbrokermike and all others interested in trading rooms....Reaver gave you some good advice.

the best advice I can give you.....would you go into your local McDonald's and ask the guy working Fries, could he help you make six figures a year?......

yet...that's what newbies do all the time in expecting these trading rooms to help them make a living trading....If the Moderator can not make the type of money that you seek in trading, then it's ludicrous to expect him or her to help you make it..

You should seek out someone that is making the kind of money that you would like to make AND they MUST also practice good money management....of course the only way to find this out is to look at their brokerage statements....

otherwise, keep your money in your pocket and learn on your own.

I know because I've spent a fortune in trading rooms, seminars, and memberships...
