Trading prior to economic data

Does anyone here put on positions prior to economic news such as PPI/CPI/GDP etc. in anticipation of a move off the release?

If so, what is your strategy?

 

Betting on volatility is probably the best way to make a quick buck on these types of opportunities.

 

I guess i"m asking about more direct plays such as buying/shorting futures
