Trading on the Road

  1. Looking for some thoughts / advice: What do Elitetraders recommend for trading on the road?

I will likely spend several weeks on the road this summer while my household goods (and desktop) are being shipped. As an alternative to putting my portfolio on ice in the interim, thinking about going mobile, i.e. acquiring and equipping a laptop. Primarily I will need to access my IB accounts and generally surf the web. Should I put the TWS standalone on the laptop or revert to the web version?

Are there unique security issues relating to trading from a hotel room connection? What about if I stay at a hotel that provides an in-room desktop - is trading from that wise?

Any special considerations re: a hardware system for trading on the road?

Based on your experience, what might I have overlooked?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Almost all hotels now have high speed internet access. I trade often from hotels using my own laptop - just plug in and go.

You should look at Dell's site - you can get a pretty powerful P4 for half of what I paid two years ago (and it will be a better machine!).
